SUMMARY:Sofia Talvik in concert! Dan Philgreen opens
DESCRIPTION:The ACMA is proud to start off May concerts with the talent of Sofia Talvik!\nFee donation at the door:\n$12/Members $18/Non Members\nMeet Sofia:\nSofia Talvik is a rare artist and an avid storyteller with a voice comparable to giants like Joni Mitchell\, or as the Folk/Americana Magazine NoDepression said it ”A singer/songwriter who is able to evoke the essence of Laurel Canyon circa the ‘60s as expressed in the work of Joni Mitchell\, Judy Collins\, Buffy Sainte-Marie and others who were able to paint beautiful tapestries from words and music.”.\nPrepare yourself for an unique and intimate evening\, not unlike the 70’s coffeehouses and speakeasy’s. You will be up close and personal with a world class act that has played big festivals like Lollapalooza and SxSW and opened for artists like Maria McKee and David Duchovny (X-files\, Californication). It is in this kind of setting where she can casually joke and communicate with the audience that her strength as a performer shines the most.\nHer delicate songs are performed in an intimate way\, showing off Sofia’s angelic voice enhanced only by a tasteful mix of harmonies and delays\, accompanied by the steady picking of her acoustic guitar and the rhythm section consisting of her own two feet\, bells and a stomp box.\nSofia has toured through 47 U.S states\, many of the countries in Europe and far away places like New Zealand.\nTalvik’s 8th studio album “Paws Of a Bear” was released September 2019. The album is reflecting inwards instead of to her surroundings\, exploring thoughts about identity and home. The single “Take Me Home” has been charting on Folk and Americana radio charts in the U.S and Europe.\nsofiatalvik.com\nACMA member/singer songwriter\, Dan Philgreen will open the show. Dan is an acoustic guitar player with a folksy sound. He has a treasure trove of originals and might do a cover for us to sing along!\nThe ACMA follows the Covid-19 protocols of our host venue.

We are lucky to have two talented musicians almost in our backyard!\nMore about Annie…\nAs a songwriter… Annie Wenz’s music has been heard…\nOn ESPN\, as Independent Film scores\, and from major league ballparks & Harley dealerships around the US\, to TV/theater productions around the world!\nAs a touring performer… Annie has been described as…\n”a Poet & Human Rights Activist on the road\, blending in with the people of different lands from South America to Ireland. Annie has stayed a spell\, embraced the people\, understood their plight\, shared songs and enriched herself as much as her new found friends”…\nAfter many years of loving a career as Nursing Supervisor at a Psychiatric Crisis Shelter in Massachusetts\, (while doing music for her patients and on the side!)\, Annie’s music career called her to the road… (though she is still an RN)\nNow Annie’s muse-a rama leads her from brilliantly poetic watercolor story songs about life & love & backpacking through jungles & villages around the globe… to vivid gritty & tattered hard ridden road songs penned during long distant blue highway trips on the 2 wheels of her motorcycle & 4 wheels of her camper as settles & travels & shares her music…\nwww.anniewenz.com\nAnd Rod:\nRod MacDonald (born August 17\, 1948) is an American singer-songwriter\, novelist\, and educator.[1] He was a “big part of the 1980s folk revival in Greenwich Village clubs”\,[2] performing at the Speakeasy\, The Bottom Line\, Folk City\, and the “Songwriter’s Exchange” at the Cornelia Street Cafe. Since 1995 MacDonald has lived in south Florida\, where his cd\, “Later that Night” was named “Best Local Cd of 2014” by The Palm Beach Post[3] and reached the top ten in national roots music charts. DESCRIPTION:Since 2019\, the ACMA has tried to get this duo to the stage. We have succeeded!\nDoor donations: $12 Members/$18 Public\nAbout Annie and Rod Capps:\nSongs about broken things and poignant little ponderings are delivered with a rootsy vibe\, a touch of twang and a soulful groove. Annie and Rod are on a musical journey that began in 1982\, culminating into a symbiotic sound that reflects their deep and intuitive understanding of each other. Annie’s disarming\, earthy voice and solid command of her guitar are punctuated by Rod’s effortless\, accompaniment and beautiful solo work. SUMMARY:ACMA@Alliance! The Nouveaux Honkies in concert. Robert Bidney opens.
DESCRIPTION:The ACMA@Alliance concert series finishes up the season with The Nouveau Honkies/Robert Bidney opens outdoor concert.\nHow reservations work for outdoor concerts: We will be accepting the first 132 people for concert reservations. IF weather threatens the outdoor concert it will be moved to our indoor theatre for general admission seats. If there is no weather threat we will sell additional tickets at the door the day of the concert.\nBring a chair/blanket etc. Beverages available at the Alliance\nMembers $15/General public $16\ntickets @ www.artinlee.org\n\nThe Honkies:\nBouncing around the country for the last 10 years\, the Nouveaux Honkies currently spread their time between East Tennessee and Southern Florida. Yes\, some would call them “snowbirds”\, but they will declare themselves bi-statual. That’s not a word\, but it will be. As far as what one will hear when they perform\, they consider it genre neutral. They play songs they wrote and songs they wish they wrote. If you wanna get picky it’s called “mother lovin’\, country folkin’ blues”. Catch a show and you will end up smiling.\n\nIn mid 2014\, Rebecca Dawkins and Tim O’Donnell\, of The Nouveaux Honkies\, hoisted anchor and set sail in their rebuilt RV. The journey started in South Florida and took them as far west as the Rockies\, as far north as the Great Lakes\, as far east as Cape Cod\, and returned south for the winter. It’s been somewhere around 150 thousand miles\, 600 shows\, and at least one million smiles that has influenced The Nouveaux Honkies and their Loud In Here CD release in March of 2018. The New Year will also see TNH with a permanent residence in Knoxville\, TN. O’Donnell says\, “We based out of Tennessee the last two summers and fell in love with the Smokies. Knoxville will be a wonderful spring through fall hub for traveling and we also love this little city.” Their 2015 release\, “Blues For Country\,” masterfully blended styles. Their new release\, “Loud In Here\,” is a continuance of that same concept\, respecting the greats and creating their own gumbo\, which reveals a highway of influences.\nhttps://tnhband.com/bio\n\nACMA musician Robert Bidney opens.\nRobert Bidney is a singer songwriter whose message is as strong as his melodies. His music is relatable and has a strong commercial sensibility.\nHe has been writing songs for most of his life. To support his family\, he worked in the advertising world\, but pursued his passion of writing songs with meaning. Those songs define him and reveal his soul.\nA seasoned performer\, Bidney connects with his audiences through his infectious energy and emotional performances with 3 CD releases that have made their marks on the charts.\nAn active member of the Americana Community Music Association\, Bidney lives in Southwest Florida and continues to write songs close to his heart.\nwww.robertbidney.com

Americana music a coming together of blues\, roots\, folk and country.\n\nThe Reckless Saints bring their Blue Twangled Folk and Roll to the Green Market Stage\neckless Saints founder Roy Schneider was 16 and in hiding when a friend loaned him a guitar. He had just broken out of a Straight\, Inc. facility after a horrific year-long incarceration\, where he had been denied the right to play an instrument or even listen to music. Having access to a guitar again – as well as the support of good friends – helped him survive while he waited to turn 18\, and begin his lifelong love affair with making music. Schneider went on to pursue visual arts\, learning how to design toys in 3D\, and writing and drawing syndicated comic strip “The Humble Stumble” through United Media. Ultimately\, his passion for the many flavors of music that define the Americana genre\, combined with his innate ability to play most anything with strings\, led him to give up the ‘day jobs’ for a career in music.\nHe was making a living performing in local bars when Roy met Kim Mayfield. She added keyboard\, mandolin\, rhythm guitar\, harmony vocals\, and the idea to take the music on the road. .\nReckless Saints\, the CD\, has hovered in the top 50 on Roots Music Reports Americana Country chart since shortly after its release\, and was included in their ‘Best of 2019’ list. The album features production ‘Guidance Counselor’ Gurf Morlix on the lone cover- Blaze Foley’s Election Day. Other guest artists include Freebo (Bonnie Raitt) on bass and Country Music Hall of Famer Charlie McCoy on harmonica.\nwww.therecklesssaints.com

Tickets at:\nwww.artinlee.org\n\nMURIEL ANDERSON CONCERT WITH MULTIMEDIA VISUALS\nMuriel Anderson is a guitarist/harp-guitarist and composer\, embracing music from all over the world with grace\, joy and humor.\nMuriel is the first woman to have won the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship. Her CD\, “Nightlight Daylight”\, was chosen as one of the top 10 CDs of the decade by Guitar Player Magazine\, and her “Heartstrings” recording accompanied the astronauts on the space shuttle Discovery. Among those she has performed/recorded with are Chet Atkins\, Les Paul\, Victor Wooten\, Tommy Emmanuel and the Nashville Chamber Orchestra. Her obvious joy of music\, humor and her facility across the genres of folk\, classical\, bluegrass\, popular and international music is revered by guitarists worldwide. An engaging performer\, Muriel’s unique approach to the instrument virtually transforms the guitar into a lyrical choir\, then a marching band\, then a Bluegrass band\, one minute launching into a Beatles’ tune and the next\, a Spanish classic.\nMuriel’s multimedia show takes you on a journey in music and stories\, with a backdrop of visuals artfully projected behind her. It is a musical journey through space and around the world. Truly an experience of all the senses\, her show often incorporates aspects of her new project Acoustic Chef with visuals by celebrated photo-artist Bryan Allen. Her new TrueFire channel brings her in-demand teaching to a wider audience. Muriel is host of the renowned Muriel Anderson’s ALL STAR GUITAR NIGHT® and founder of the MUSIC FOR LIFE ALLIANCE charity.\n“Just one hell of a great player…a great personality…the way she plays it like we all wish to play.\n‘ Les Paul\n\n‘Muriel Anderson is a good friend and a great guitarist.\n‘ Chet Atkins\n\n‘Acoustic guitarist Muriel Anderson… has justifiably gained a reputation as one of the world’s best\, and most versatile\, guitar instrumentalists” Chicago Tribune\nwww.murielanderson.com\nOpening for Muriel is Ray Cerbone:\nOne of the founding members of the Fort Myers ACMA (Americana Community Music Association)\, Ray began playing guitar during the late 60’s folk scene. With the support and inspiration of fellow local and touring musicians\, he began writing and playing in earnest in 2010. Traveling a long road in a short time\, his music encompasses many genres\, including Americana\, Folk\, Blues\, Ballads\, and a little bit of Country. His storyteller style takes the listener to another place in time\, his music and lyrics bringing evocative insights into the many sides of life. Ray is also a singer-songwriter’s song-singer. That is\, he does interpretive covers of other great originals by little-known but very talented artists using his own creative touch. His inventive fingerstyle guitar is uniquely diverse and easy-on-the-ears.\nRay’s recently released CD\, “How Much Time” has received glowing reviews and is being featured on KEOS Radio in Austin\, Texas\, 98.1 as well as others. He has shared the stage with Jaime Michaels\, Pierce Pettis\, Muriel Anderson\, Rebecca Folsom\, Jefferson Ross\, Brian Smalley\, as well as Roy Schneider and Kim Mayfield (The Reckless Saints)\, and Robin O’Herin. He has performed at several Florida Folk Festivals in SW\, Central\, and Northern Florida as well as house concerts\, and the BMI sponsored “Island Hopper Festival” in Ft. SUMMARY:ACMA Songwriters at the Plaza
DESCRIPTION:The Lee County Library has joined with The ACMA (Americana Community Music Association)\, to offer free Acoustic concerts of all original music. Concerts will take place in the Amphitheater\, which is located on South Cornog Plaza. Bring a chair or a blanket\, shows will be moved indoors depending on weather.\nThe ACMA is a Fort Myers based not for profit that promotes local artists who perform their own original songs. Come hear great original music and the stories behind the songs in an intimate Songwriters Showcase. Be prepared to enjoy an evening of professional quality acoustic Americana music. Americana music a coming together of blues\, roots\, folk and country.\n\nThe Pearl Street Band. The band is comprised of Mike McMllan\, Bob Williams\, Bill Veach and Clark Johnson. The band is made up of all ACMA members. They perform regularly on Fort Myers Beach. They perform mostly original music and a few tasty covers. In 2020 they released their first album as a band\, Rocky Road.\n\nMike McMillan: Started playing guitar at age 13. He enjoys many different genres which has also influenced his original compositions. Keith has been both a band leader and a sideman and enjoys backing others on guitar and vocals when the opportunity presents itself. Keith also has a passion for writing\, co-writing\, arranging\, recording and performing original music.\n\nBob Williams: In the late sixties\, Bob Williams\, a young guitar player from Long Island\, NY\, began writing his own music. Pulling elements from Folk-Rock and Country-Rock\, Bob created a sound all of his own. Always eager to share amusing stories behind the lyrics\, Bob’s songs are personal. Irreverent. Funny. Sad. And most importantly\, true to his heart. With encouragement from family and friends\, he produced and released three albums No Apologies\, Ain’t Sorry Yet\, & It’s Good To Be Back\n\nBill Veach was a drummer in a rock band in college\, but guitars are easier to move and make for better neighbors so he spent $100 of his precious college beer money on a flame red acoustic guitar. Moving was a part of his life for years\, with a love of travel that is expressed in many of his songs. His songs are often autobiographical\, about his experiences\, travel\, love\, loss and some characters he has met on his journey. Bill is a Western boy\, raised in Colorado and lived in Utah and Wyoming before becoming a full time resident of Fort Myers Beach. He became active writing songs as part of the Cheyenne Guitar Society in Wyoming and finds inspiration in the camaraderie of the ACMA Singer Songwriter Circle on Sundays. Bill has never met a genre he didn’t like. Bill has produced multiple albums.\n\nClark Johnson\nBorn in NYC at a very early age. Picked up bass in 7th grade (Beatles\, etc.). Blues bands all through college. Rock/Folk most of the rest of the time. Since moving to FL\, play in bluegrass and country bands

SUMMARY:Dave Mayfield in Concert! Carolyn Stanley Opens
DESCRIPTION:You are in for a treat with this show!\nOhio-based Americana singer/songwriter David Mayfield has deep roots in the bluegrass and folk scenes. The Kent native grew up playing bass and touring with his family’s bluegrass band\, later embracing guitar and mandolin as a teenager and earning national awards for his deft flatpicking style. Before going solo David joined progressive bluegrass outfit Cadillac Sky. The group’s fiery\, aggressive sound infuriated many traditionalists\, but won them a hardcore following of younger fans and landed them gigs alongside acts like Mumford & Sons and the Avett Brothers. Mayfield is truly a wordsmith\, forging the mundane into the evocative.\n“…his songs are sturdy enough to work in any format\, because his tunes are that lovely and his words that understated.”\n—Washington Post\nCarolyn Stanley is the perfect opener for this show! DESCRIPTION:ACMA member Carlene Thissen will open for The Rough And Tumble @ The Alliance for the Arts as part of the ACMA’s collaboration with the Alliance to present outstanding Americana music to the public.\nHow reservations work for outdoor concerts: The Alliance will be accepting the first 132 people for concert reservations. IF weather threatens the outdoor concert it will be moved to our indoor theatre for general admission seats. If there is no weather threat we will sell additional tickets at the door the day of the concert. Members $15/Public $16.  Tickets. www.artinlee.org\n\nThe Rough & Tumble aren’t casual road dogs\, but they’re not letting on either. From their earworm melodies to their heartstring lyrics\, this dumpster-folk/thriftstore Americana duo refuses to bring the haggard\, road-worn stereotype to their audience– even though they’ve earned it. Mallory Graham and Scott Tyler formed The Rough & Tumble in 2011 and a few years later sold everything they could\, bought a 16’ camper and hit the road with their two rescue dogs\, playing roughly 150 shows a year to audiences across the USA and Canada. Equally at home in festival settings\, listening rooms and house concerts\, their commanding stage presence\, sharp banter and engaging performances won them The Listening Room Network’s Artist of the Year award in 2019. Songwriters and storytellers\, the duo will have you in stitches one minute and falling apart at the seams the next.\nIn February 2021 The Rough & Tumble dug into the severed branch of their family tree\, releasing their newest album\, We’re Only Family If You Say So\, a full length record about what it takes to be family– and what it means to lose it. With a single debuting on The Bluegrass Situation and Grateful Web referring to the album as “a must listen\,” it has been embraced by fans for its stark honesty\, unique storytelling and well-crafted melodies\, especially at a time when families are deeply divided. The new record follows 2019’s Howling Back at the Wounded Dog\, an album to which the response was audible\, with audiences literally howling back at performances coast-to-coast\, and whose opening track “The Hardest Part” won the Independent Music Awards’ Best Americana Song of 2019.\nDuring COVID hiatus the Rough and Tumble continued to make music\, produce CDS and maintain relationships through live streams\, zooms and various other projects.\nwww.theroughandtumble.com\nACMA musician Carlene Thissen opens.\nCarlene Thissen is a singer\, songwriter and author in Naples\, Florida\, where she dedicates herself to performing\, speaking and songwriting\, singing and playing piano and guitar at house concerts\, clubs\, restaurants\, festivals and charity events. Until recently\, she also served the community as Coordinator of a Farm Labor Supervisor Training program at the University of Florida’s Research & Education Center in Immokalee.\nCarlene performed in the 1960s and 70s as a young guitar-playing folk singer in northwest New Jersey\, doing songs by Bob Dylan\, Joan Baez\, Judy Collins\, Joni Mitchell and Melanie. She says the best three days of her life were spent at the Woodstock Music & Art Fair in 1969 and she presents a multi-media program today about that experience.\nAs she explains in her autobiographical song\, Back There Again\, this Woodstock hippie girl\, “…cut her hair and got a career\, and lost herself for 30 odd years.” Forgetting her dreams of being a doctor working in ghettos\, she became a successful business woman\, well known for speeches\, articles and books about marketing technology. She ended her corporate career as Vice President for a large market research company in Chicago\, became an independent international consultant and then moved to Naples\, Florida.

When the pandemic canceled concerts and delayed the album’s release\, he pivoted to performing online and found a strong new connection to his fans\, who had helped fund his albums all along. “My musical tribe has always been there for me\,” he says with gratitude.\nIn spite of tough teenage years\, he emerged to earn a degree from Berklee College of Music\, net a five-year staff writer gig on Nashville’s Music Row penning material for major TV networks\, and win prestigious songwriting awards. And then to become the singer-songwriter his countless fans know today\, who (in the words of Music News Nashville) “bring[s] to mind iconic artist/poets like Paul Simon and Jackson Browne… [with] a performance that touches the heart like only a whisper can.”\njesseterrymusic.com\nACMA member  Ken Crosby Opens\nDoor donations: $12 Members/$18 Public\nThe ACMA will be following the Covid guidelines of our venue.

Role models for Woman Blues players were far and few between\, but Karen became inspired by 2 modern day trailblazers; Bonnie Raitt and Rory Block.\nMore recently\, Karen’s focus has turned to the Early Women of the Blues\, interpreting their songs and bring their music to light.\nKaren brings an authentic feel to their music\, and like them\, she adds her own authenticity to all the songs she writes and covers

If there is no weather threat we will sell additional tickets at the door the day of the concert. For this concert only rain time is 5 PM>.\n\nThe Reckless Saints bring their Blue Twangled Folk and Roll to the Green Market Stage\neckless Saints founder Roy Schneider was 16 and in hiding when a friend loaned him a guitar. Ultimately\, his passion for the many flavors of music that define the Americana genre\, combined with his innate ability to play most anything with strings\, led him to give up the ‘day jobs’ for a career in music.\n\nHe was making a living performing in local bars when Roy met Kim Mayfield. She added keyboard\, mandolin\, rhythm guitar\, harmony vocals\, and the idea to take the music on the road. .\n\nReckless Saints\, the CD\, has hovered in the top 50 on Roots Music Reports Americana Country chart since shortly after its release\, and was included in their ‘Best of 2019’ list. The album features production ‘Guidance Counselor’ Gurf Morlix on the lone cover- Blaze Foley’s Election Day. Other guest artists include Freebo (Bonnie Raitt) on bass and Country Music Hall of Famer Charlie McCoy on harmonica.\nwww.therecklesssaints.com\n\nOpening the show will be ACMA members Box and Lucia Cox as Java Moon Band. The Java Moon Band consists of Bob Cox\, Lucia Jenkins\, and Guy Rienzi. Lucia’s songs are folk and funk-fused\, with jazz tinged elements. Guy’s originals cover a wide range of styles from root based rock to blues. Bob anchors the band as bass player and co-singer. The Java Moon Band plays regularly at local Naples venues and their schedule can be found at https://www.facebook.com/javamoonband

Our December 4th concert will feature Louise Mosrie Coombe and ACMA member Kim Mayfield will open!\nSuggested door donations $15 members/$20 General public.\nAbout COVID:\nAt this time\, RSVPs are not necessary\, however\, masks are required and vaccinations requested. The safety of our audience\, musicians and hosts is our top priority. Thank you for your cooperation so we can once again gather to enjoy live music in a listening atmosphere!\nCool stuff about Louise:\nLouise Mosrie grew up in McEwen\, TN on a cattle farm – riding horses and writing poetry. She began writing songs after college while working in TV/radio in Knoxville. She moved back to the Nashville area in 2004 and began co-writing with country\, bluegrass and folk artists (Donna Ulisse\, Mike Richardson) and writers. Louise had a major creative breakthrough in 2007 when she had a fortuitous co-writing session with famed Americana producer and writer\, Ray Kennedy (Steve Earle\, Lucinda Williams). They wrote the song\, “Doubling Back”\, for a documentary film by IU professor\, Ron Osgood\, called “My Vietnam\, Your Iraq” which was broadcast on PBS stations nationwide.\nAudience members would tell her that they enjoyed the stories between the songs as much as the songs and her strong expressive voice was described as “…like listening to Patty Griffin and Susan Tedeschi at the same time.” She’s played at The Bluebird Café in Nashville\, Club Passim in Boston\, Caffé Lena in NY and was just recently invited to play at The Birchmere in Washington DC.\nThe new CD\, “Lay It Down”\, was released in late summer/Fall 2014…and landed on several “Best of” lists. Louise is always writing new songs…..\n“Louise Mosrie may well be the brightest young folk-oriented artist to emerge from Nashville in many a year.” – Rich Warren\, WFMT-FM\, The Midnight Special\, Chicago\n\n\nSolarFest performing Songwriting Winner 2016\nFolk Alliance International Official Showcase 2014\nRocky Mtn. Folks Festival Showcase Artist 2012\nFalcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist\n2011 “Voted Most Wanted to Return”\nTelluride Bluegrass Festival Troubadour Contest 2011 runner-up\nWildflower! Festival Performing Songwriter Contest 2010 Winner\nKerrville Folk Festival New Folk Songwriting Competition 2009 and 2020 Winner\nKim Mayfield:\nKim is better known as half of the Americana duo Roy Schneider & Kim Mayfield (now called Reckless Saints). Reviewers have described her music as “pearly and sashaying”\, “pleasantly invoking the legendary Tammy Wynette” “most like Jewell” and ‘haunted by Patsy Cline”. Mayfield’s song “Ring Around the Moon” made he a semi-finalist in the 2019 International Songwriting Competition. Kim is currently at work on a new Reckless Saints project to be followed by her first solo record.\nwww.therecklesssaints.com
