SUMMARY:ACMA Songwriters at the Plaza\, The Reckless Saints
DESCRIPTION:The Reckless Saints\nThe Lee County Library has joined with The ACMA (Americana Community Music Association)\, to offer FREE concerts of all original music by local Artists. Concerts will take place in the Amphitheater\, which is located on South Cornog Plaza. Bring a chair or a blanket\, shows will be moved to the meeting rooms located next to the amphitheater if needed depending on weather.\nThe ACMA is a Fort Myers based not for profit promoting local artists who perform original songs. What to expect\, you will hear singer-songwriters sharing a lifetime of experiences in song and the inspiration behind the songs. Be prepared to enjoy an evening of professional quality acoustic Americana music. Americana music is a coming together of blues\, roots\, folk \, bluegrass\, and country. Lots of room to spread out so bring a friend.\nThe Reckless Saints bring their Blue Twangled Folk and Roll to the Plaza.\nReckless Saints founder Roy Schneider was 16 and in hiding when a friend loaned him a guitar. He had just broken out of a Straight\, Inc. facility after a horrific year-long incarceration\, where he had been denied the right to play an instrument or even listen to music. Having access to a guitar again – as well as the support of good friends – helped him survive while he waited to turn 18\, and begin his lifelong love affair with making music. Schneider went on to pursue visual arts\, learning how to design toys in 3D\, and writing and drawing syndicated comic strip “The Humble Stumble” through United Media. Ultimately\, his passion for the many flavors of music that define the Americana genre\, combined with his innate ability to play most anything with strings\, led him to give up the ‘day jobs’ for a career in music.\nHe was making a living performing in local bars when Roy met Kim Mayfield. She added keyboard\, mandolin\, rhythm guitar\, harmony vocals\, and the idea to take the music on the road. .\nReckless Saints\, the CD\, has hovered in the top 50 on Roots Music Reports Americana Country chart since shortly after its release\, and was included in their ‘Best of 2019’ list. The album features production ‘Guidance Counselor’ Gurf Morlix on the lone cover- Blaze Foley’s Election Day. Other guest artists include Freebo (Bonnie Raitt) on bass and Country Music Hall of Famer Charlie McCoy on harmonica.\nwww.therecklesssaints.com

SUMMARY:Cliff Eberhardt in Concert! Louise Mosrie Opens
DESCRIPTION:Back up on our ACMA stage again….Cliff Eberhardt and Louise Mosrie! What a show for our December series.\nMore about Cliff Eberhardt:\n“Eberhardt is better than ever\, Steve McQueening his way into your heart at about ninety-eight miles an hour\, kicking ass with fresh insight and new ways to lament old yearnings”. ~ Philly Rock Guide.\nCliff Eberhardt knew by age seven that he was going to be a singer and songwriter. Growing up in Berwyn\, Pennsylvania\, he and his brothers sang together and their parents played instruments. His dad introduced him to the guitar and he quickly taught himself to play. Fortunate enough to live close to the Main Point (one of the best folk clubs on the East Coast)\, he cut his teeth listening to the likes of James Taylor\, Joni Mitchell\, Bruce Springsteen\, Howlin’ Wolf\, Muddy Waters\, Bonnie Raitt\, and Mississippi John Hurt — receiving an early and impressive tutorial in acoustic music. At the same time\, he was also listening to great pop songwriters like Cole Porter\, the Gershwins\, and Rodgers and Hart\, which explain his penchant for great melodies and clever lyrical twists.\nNew York was an ideal musician’s boot camp. Though he put in long hours as a taxi driver\, Cliff worked steadily on his music throughout the 80’s\, doing solo gigs and studio work\, and playing guitar on the road with Richie Havens\, Melanie and others. Singing advertising jingles for products like Coke\, Miller Beer and Chevrolet (“The Heartbeat of America” campaign) allowed him to devote more time to his songwriting.\n\nIn 2011\, Cliff got a phone call from the Folger Theatre and Shakespeare Library in Washington DC. They had been listening to his song\, “That Kind of Love” along with director Aaron Posner and got the brilliant idea to hire Cliff to write original songs for the Shakespeare classic “The Taming of the Shrew”. It would be set in the old West – Deadwood style – and Cliff would be cast as the blind but wise old saloon singer bookending scenes with his poignant songs and guitar phrases. The play was a huge success and won much critical acclaim across town and 7 weeks of solid sold-out shows in the Spring of 2012. In 2013\, Cliff was nominated for a coveted Helen Hayes Award for Sound Design and he and the cast won for Best Ensemble and Best Play. Some of the songs on Shrew Songs are from Cliff’s past work and some are brand new.\n\nCliff is well-known as a songwriting teacher all over the U.S. at songwriting camps and private lessons. He also produces\, arranges and advises on other artist’s recordings. He tours constantly.\ncliffeberhardt.net\nJoining Cliff is the fabulous Louise Mosrie. Louise started writing songs about the South – what she knew and where she grew up. In 2008\, she began working on a new album eventually to be called “Home” because she’d come full circle in her “voice” as a writer. The album was a mix of bluegrass\, country and folk and as she weaved in lush stories and songs about southern life\, she was even introduced once as “…William Faulkner with a guitar”. With those songs\, she entered some song contests connected to festivals and ended up winning top awards at Kerrville Folk Festival\, Wildflower! Festival\, Telluride Bluegrass Festival and Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. “Home” debuted at #1 on the Folk DJ charts in January 2010 and went on to be one of the most played albums that year for that chart.\n\nIn 2012\, her 15-year marriage ended and her mother was diagnosed with brain cancer and died 6 months later. Out of those dark days came some new songs that would eventually be recorded on her newest release “Lay It Down”: 10 songs of love\, loss and surrender. On “Lay It Down”\, she collaborated with folk-rock songwriter/producer\, Cliff Eberhardt\, who envisioned that minimalist arrangements and restrained production would allow the emotional songs and Louise’s voice a stark relief to rest and shine in.\nThe new CD\, “Lay It Down”\, was released in late summer/Fall 2014…and landed on several “Best of” lists. Louise is always writing new songs…..\nlouisemosrie.com\nDoor donations: Members – $12\nGeneral Public – $18

SUMMARY:Kraig Kenning in Concert! Bruce Gallant opens
DESCRIPTION:Singer Songwriter / National Slide Guitar Champion…..\nA Kraig Kenning show is a guarantee! The ACMA is delighted to have him back on our stage.\nMore about Kraig Kenning:\nCall him Contemporary folk\, Acoustic blues\, Roots rock\, or American fingerstyle. The fact is\, Kraig has managed to merge a bit of all the above\, while maintaining a close and personal connection with his audience. Kraig has played up to 200 dates a year touring the US for the last 3 decades\, showcasing songs from his eight cds containing almost exclusively original material.\nKenning has shaped himself into one of the most capable performers on the planet. “There is an exchange at a spiritual level in a great performance. My goal is to journey with all my listeners to this magical place.”\nKenning has inspired comparisons with Eric Clapton\, Duane Allman\, Bob Dylan\, and Jackson Browne…to name a few. His finger picking often brings reminders of Kraig’s long time hero Leo Kottke. “His overall performance and presentation stand equal with any of today’s top singer/ songwriters”\, states Dave Glynn of the Fox Valley Blues Society. It’s hard to be humble when elevated to the ranks of guitar gods and modern poets\, but Kraig is quick to point out the logic behind such flattering comparisons: “Those are the guys I listened to\, whose music I locked myself in my room with growing up. If I sound like any of them\, it’s because they were my inspiration and fueled my dreams.”\nAt National Guitar’s 1st Annual Slide Competition\, Kraig took first place honors as Best Unsigned Artist. He has opened for slide guitar master Sonny Landreth; and he has shared lineups with club and folk series favorites such as John Gorka and Patti Larkin.\nkraigkenning.com\nDoor donations:\n$12/Members\n$18/General Public\nACMA member and singer/songwriter\, Bruce Gallant opens this show. In his own words Gallant states: “Writing and music are like breathing to me\, they are what I need to get me through my life.” The ACMA is fortunate to have this kind of talent in our own back yard.

SUMMARY:The Black Feathers in Concert! Chuck Williams Opens
DESCRIPTION:An ACMA concert with that WOW Factor! Welcome The Black Feathers with Chuck Williams opening!!\nMore:\nThe ability to write songs that are both modern and ancient is a rare thing. The product of an arcane art of weaving in traditional influences so thoroughly that they become the warp and weft of fresh creations.\nThe Black Feathers\, made up of Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler\, are two such talents. They first became aware of the magic between them while collaborating on several musical projects\, becoming The Black Feathers and life partners in 2012.\n“Once in a blue moon\, the whole soars far above the sum of its parts. That’s what happens when The Black Feathers perform live”\n– Black Mountain News\, North Carolina\nAmericana\, Folk\, and Acoustic Indie Rock sensibilities coexist comfortably in their musical world\, with Hughes’ guitar work buoying the kind of harmonies often only heard in family bands. Their music quickly draw the interest of listeners\, but it is the stage chemistry that will keep them riveted.\nHaving already built up a loyal following in the UK\, The Black Feathers have been spreading their wings across the US. They have performed at Philadelphia Folk Festival and AmericanaFest\, and have also been awarded official showcases at the North East Regional and Far-West Folk Alliance conferences.\ntheblackfeathers.com\n\nMassachusetts snowbird\, ACMA member\, singer/songwriter Chuck Williams opens the show! Chuck’s approach is typically relaxed\, at times sentimental and always confident. He is not a folk artist with heavy political leanings in his songwriting such as Joan Baez\, Phil Ochs or U. Utah Phillips.\nHowever\, what Chuck has mastered is how to pull at Americana heartstrings and tell rootsy stories through his simple and effective novella type lyrics. Nothing is overproduced or played with flash. Chuck has a personable singing style and it’s not done to impress but express.\nchuckwilliamsmusic.com\nDoor donations:\n$12 – Members\n$18 – Non-Members\nACMA follows the Covid guidelines of our host venue

SUMMARY:Rebecca Folsom Sorry Canceled
DESCRIPTION:Rebecca is back touring again and back on our ACMA stage!\nMeet Rebecca Folsom\nRebecca Folsom’s music is all about love and the connection to our shared humanity. Her four-octave range dances from raw and powerful to sweetly tender\, creating a deeply moving\, edgy and elevated style. Her voice aims to the heart like a gentle bull’s eye\, and cracks you open while filling you with hope. In short\, her performances will “knock-you-to-your-knees.” (KUNC radio).\nIn her songs\, she shares stories from her own life and from others’ lives\, bringing to light the vulnerability and wisdom that we all share. Her words point like a compass into our deepest emotions\, inviting us to find the courage to face our fears\, embrace our dreams and choose to live our best life with loving-kindness as our guide.\nRebecca feels strongly that for humanity to thrive globally\, the voices of all people must be heard. While writing her newest album\, SANCTUARY\, she reached out to established organizations representing marginalized communities. SUMMARY:The Little Fools: John Butler\, Susan Chastain\, Susie Hulcher at Shell Point
DESCRIPTION:A do-not-miss show as part of the ACMA Acoustic Festival at Shell Point Retirement Community.\nMore about The Little Fools:\nJohn R. Butler first played music for money during the Johnson administration. Butler went on to play in a number of bands and as a solo performer throughout high school\, college and later. John R. Butler’s songwriting has garnered prizes at the Kerrville (TX) New Folk competition\, the Will McLean Music Festival and the South Florida Folk Festival. One of Butler’s songs was included in the soundtrack of the 2013 feature film \, “Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3-D\,” starring absolutely no one you’d recognize.\nThese days Butler airs out his musical mojo alongside Susan Chastain\, erstwhile jazz chanteuse and current belter of ballads\, diva of ditties\, marquessa of melodies. They will be joined by the undeniably undeniable Susie Hulcher as Little Fools.\nVocalist Susan Chastain has been performing since she was 3 years old\, debuting atop her mother’s bar in tiny Oklawaha\, Florida. “Converting” to jazz in her thirties\, she has sung in combos ranging from casual duos to a 25-year stint with a 15-piece big band\, in smoky little bars outside Detroit to orchestra halls in Spain and Switzerland. A Detroit Music Award winner as the singer with the Paul Keller Orchestra\, Susan was the owner of an internationally-recognized jazz venue\, the Firefly Club\, in Ann Arbor\, Michigan. For 10 years\, she hosted there the best in local\, regional\, national and international jazz talent.\nA devoted student of the Great American Songbook\, Susan draws her musical choices from her 500-song tune list (always growing)\, which includes familiar and lesser-known jazz standards\, danceable swing\, soulful blues and torch songs\, and an occasional eclectic left turn. Moving back to her home state in 2010\, Susan still performs jazz in many combinations. But in the last few years\, she’s also ventured over to the dark side\, and with duo partner\, singer/songwriter John R. Butler\, has enjoyed singing Americana\, vintage rock\, blues\, soul\, country classics and award-winning originals in rich harmony as Little Fools.\nSusie Hulcher has been in love with the human voice and with the Art of Song for as long as she can remember.\nShe is an energetic vocalist\, compelling songwriter and versatile bassist and guitarist\, and her vast array of sonic influences is readily apparent when she performs live\, and especially in her original songs.\nSusie operates in many realms! Playing solo is always fun\, but she loves the larger world of playing bass in a duo/trio/band context.\nTicket price: $20 Open to the public\nPurchase tickets: www.tribbyartscenter.com\nBox Office: (239) 415-5667\nThe Tribby Art Center at Shell Point is an amazing state-of-the-art auditorium with a seating capacity of 400. SUMMARY:Roy Schneider\, Kim Mayfield\, Ray Cerbone in the Round at Shell Point
DESCRIPTION:As part of the ACMA Acoustic Festival at Shell Point Retirement Community we are pleased to announce this trio in the round to the Tribby Arts Center Stage:\nRoy Schneider\, Kim Mayfield and Ray Cerbone!\nFounding member of the Americana duo Reckless Saints\, Roy Schneider\, has been performing his original music for the past two decades. His songs have thrice made him a Kerrville NewFolk finalist\, and in 2013 a contestant on NBC’s The Voice. No Depression described Schneider as ‘a songwriter in the grandest tradition of Steve Earle\, Lucinda Williams\, Guy Clark and Lyle Lovett\, but with a voice\, songwriting skill\, stagecraft\, and instrumental talent all his own.’ He is currently at work on a new Reckless Saints recording.\nKim is better known as half of the Americana duo Roy Schneider & Kim Mayfield (now called Reckless Saints.) Reviewers have described her music as ‘pearly and sashaying\,’ ‘pleasantly invoking the legendary Tammy Wynette\,’ and ‘haunted by Patsy Cline.’ Mayfield’s song\, Ring Around the Moon\, made her a semi-finalist in the 2019 International Songwriting Competition. She is currently at work on a new Reckless Saints project to be followed by her first solo recording.\nRay Cerbone: many sides of life. Ray is also a singer-songwriter’s song-singer. That is\, he does interpretive covers of other great originals by little-known but very talented artists using his own creative touch. His inventive fingerstyle guitar is uniquely diverse and easy-on-the-ears.\nOne of the founding members of the Fort Myers ACMA (Americana Community Music Association)\, Ray began playing guitar during the late 60’s folk scene. SUMMARY:Jaime Michaels in Concert. Bill Veach Opens
DESCRIPTION:The ACMA is happy to welcome back (after a long absence) New Mexico based Jaime Michals!\nDoor donation $12 members/$18 general public.\n“… truly inspiring … a vital\, alive\, creative\nartist who is as sharp\, in touch\, poignant andtimely as anyone. He’s simply an artist committed to growing who is on the journey with a mission to seek\, learn and connect with art …\nErik Balkey – Hudson Harding Music\nA venue operator in California refers to Jaime Michaels as a “songwriters’ songwriter.” He came late to the craft having enjoyed a long career as a covers artist both as a soloist and\, for a while\, full tilt rock and roll band lead singer with The Truly Dangerous Swamp Band. Not being much of a radio fan\, he chose his covers carefully…sometimes something recognizable like Dylan or the Beatles\, sometimes just damned fine songs he happened to run across from lesser known writers like Canadian Murray MacLauchlan. He sang the hell out of all of them.\nSomething happened a few years back when he moved west\, far from his east coast roots\, to a new home in Santa Fe\, NM. Maybe it was just the change of scenery\, something in the big western night sky…but the songs started coming. Finely crafted. Tuneful. Both spirited and spiritual…songs of kindness and true emotion. Eleven albums\, so far\, with Jono Manson in the producer’s chair for the past nine. Their 2013 effort\, unknown blessings\, is a fund raiser with 100% of the sales going to the Kerrville Folk Festival Foundation’s teen music camp. That album along with 2011’s the man with the time machine and most recently\, 2016’s once upon a different time\, have all won the New Mexico Music Awards album of the year award.\nJaime continues touring both in the US and in Italy where once upon a different time was released on Appaloosa records in 2016. He toured in Italy in December 2017 with keyboardist Radoslav Lorcović. 2018 dates included a mainstage set at the 2018 Kerrville folk festival\, a summer tour in California and a tour in Texas in the fall with fellow singer songwriter Rj Cowdery.”. He appeared next on Appaloosa Records’ tribute album to Townes Van Zandt\, The Wind Blows\, on the first track\, a stellar cover of Snowing On Raton.\nIn 2019\, a new album\, if you fall\, was released on Appaloosa Records\, a collaboration between Jono\, Jaime and a new recording band consisting of Austinites Paul Pearcy on drums and Ronnie Johnson on bass\, NYC/Nashville veteran pedal steel\, mandolin\, guitar wiz Jon Graboff and on keyboards and accordions\, Radoslav Loković. As always\, there are some stellar originals (if you fall\, red buddha laughs\, so it goes & carnival town among them). Also a couple of moving covers\, Greg Trooper’s they call me Hank and an English translation of legendary Italian singer songwriter Francesco de Gregori’s most famous song\, Rimmel\, which has already been featured on RAI\, Italian state television.\nIn 2020\, the global pandemic struck just as Jaime was heading to Italy for a tour. The virus curtailed Jaime’s touring for the past year. In the meantime he has been performing online and has just released a single\, co-written with Austin songwriter Jeff Talmadge\, called “in My Home” about the strange times we find ourselves in.\nwww.jaimemichaels.com

DESCRIPTION:The ACMA is proud to start off May concerts with the talent of Sofia Talvik!\nFee donation at the door:\n$12/Members $18/Non Members\nMeet Sofia:\nSofia Talvik is a rare artist and an avid storyteller with a voice comparable to giants like Joni Mitchell\, or as the Folk/Americana Magazine NoDepression said it ”A singer/songwriter who is able to evoke the essence of Laurel Canyon circa the ‘60s as expressed in the work of Joni Mitchell\, Judy Collins\, Buffy Sainte-Marie and others who were able to paint beautiful tapestries from words and music.”.\nPrepare yourself for an unique and intimate evening\, not unlike the 70’s coffeehouses and speakeasy’s. You will be up close and personal with a world class act that has played big festivals like Lollapalooza and SxSW and opened for artists like Maria McKee and David Duchovny (X-files\, Californication). It is in this kind of setting where she can casually joke and communicate with the audience that her strength as a performer shines the most.\nHer delicate songs are performed in an intimate way\, showing off Sofia’s angelic voice enhanced only by a tasteful mix of harmonies and delays\, accompanied by the steady picking of her acoustic guitar and the rhythm section consisting of her own two feet\, bells and a stomp box.\nSofia has toured through 47 U.S states\, many of the countries in Europe and far away places like New Zealand.\nTalvik’s 8th studio album “Paws Of a Bear” was released September 2019. The album is reflecting inwards instead of to her surroundings\, exploring thoughts about identity and home. The single “Take Me Home” has been charting on Folk and Americana radio charts in the U.S and Europe.\nsofiatalvik.com\nACMA member/singer songwriter\, Dan Philgreen will open the show. Dan is an acoustic guitar player with a folksy sound. He has a treasure trove of originals and might do a cover for us to sing along!\nThe ACMA follows the Covid-19 protocols of our host venue.
