SUMMARY:Feed Florida - featuring Dan Philgreen
DESCRIPTION:Feed Florida is a weekly ACMA sponsored event raising money for our local food bank. Each Monday will feature a different musical guest with all proceeds going directly to the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida.\nHosting the series is ACMA member Kim Mayfield.\nThis week our featured act is Dan Philgreen….\nAfter failed attempts at violin and piano\, Dan Philgreen picked up the guitar in the 7th grade. Like many of his age he was very influenced by the many singer-songwriters that were at the height of their popularity during the 70’s when he was in high school\, as well as the folk-rock bands of that era\, such as Crosby\, Stills\, and Nash. He has played in church for much of his life but has also always had a love for folk music which never had much of an outlet before his moving to Fort Myers\, where he is now the Technical Arts Manager at Shell Point’s new Tribby Arts Center and is an on-camera Anchor on their daily in-house TV show. The founding of the Americana Community Music Association opened a door of opportunity to develop and share his music in a community of folks who are also passionate about this genre. Though he dabbled in song-writing earlier in his life and had a few songs to his credit\, the inspiration of the ACMA’s songwriter’s circle spurred him to write many more songs over the past few years. His playing has also developed to a higher point in the last decade and he says that\, with age\, his voice is finally starting to cooperate as well. Dan’s songs are based on his observations of life and the beauty he sees in the world. They deal with the challenges of life honestly\, but always attempt to leave the listener with hope.\n\nIf you are able to help provide financial support\, there will be a link to donate under the video. Any level contribution from couch change up helps keep our less fortunate friends and neighbors from going hungry during these tough times. Just watch this page for the red Facebook LIVE icon!

DESCRIPTION:ACMA is sponsoring this weekly event to raise money for the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Fort Myers. Each Monday will feature a different musical guest. All proceeds go directly to the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida.\nThe host for the series is ACMA member Kim Mayfield.\nThis week our featured act is Bill Veach. His style is as varied as his experiences\, so there are songs about travel\, people he has met and the stories they told\, and songs inspired by the isolation of the pandemic. Bill plays at cafes and charity events around Ft. Myers Beach\, often with the Pearl Street Band. Songs from his recent CDs ’Backpacking Around the World\,’ “Jimmy\,’ and ‘Fort Myers Beach’ are available at billveach.com and reverberation. Bill is excited to support the Harry Chapin Food Bank\, one of the many organizations where he has volunteered\, and will match donations made during the show!\nIf you are able to help provide financial support\, there will be a link to donate under the video. SUMMARY:ZOOM concert with Jaime Michaels. Ray Cerbone opens
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun Zoom concert with our friends Jaime Michaels and ACMA member Ray Cerbone! This concert is free but donations will be accepted for musician support. Here’s the link!\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/83298366038…\n\nAbout Jaime\n“… truly inspiring … a vital\, alive\, creative artist who is as sharp\, in touch\, poignant andtimely as anyone. He’s simply an artist committed to growing who is on the journey with a mission to seek\, learn and connect with art …\nErik Balkey – Hudson Harding Music\nA venue operator in California refers to Jaime Michaels as a “songwriters’ songwriter.” He came late to the craft having enjoyed a long career as a covers artist both as a soloist and\, for a while\, full tilt rock and roll band lead singer with The Truly Dangerous Swamp Band. Not being much of a radio fan\, he chose his covers carefully…sometimes something recognizable like Dylan or the Beatles\, sometimes just damned fine songs he happened to run across from lesser known writers like Canadian Murray MacLauchlan. He sang the hell out of all of them.\nSomething happened a few years back when he moved west\, far from his east coast roots\, to a new home in Santa Fe\, NM. Maybe it was just the change of scenery\, something in the big western night sky…but the songs started coming. Finely crafted. Tuneful. Both spirited and spiritual…songs of kindness and true emotion. Eleven albums\, so far\, with Jono Manson in the producer’s chair for the past nine. Their 2013 effort\, unknown blessings\, is a fund raiser with 100% of the sales going to the Kerrville Folk Festival Foundation’s teen music camp. That album along with 2011’s the man with the time machine and most recently\, 2016’s once upon a different time\, have all won the New Mexico Music Awards album of the year award.\nJaime continues touring both in the US and in Italy where once upon a different time was released on Appaloosa records in 2016. He toured in Italy in December 2017 with keyboardist Radoslav Lorcović. 2018 dates included a mainstage set at the 2018 Kerrville folk festival\, a summer tour in California and a tour in Texas in the fall with fellow singer songwriter Rj Cowdery.”. He appeared next on Appaloosa Records’ tribute album to Townes Van Zandt\, The Wind Blows\, on the first track\, a stellar cover of Snowing On Raton.\nIn 2019\, a new album\, if you fall\, was released on Appaloosa Records\, a collaboration between Jono\, Jaime and a new recording band consisting of Austinites Paul Pearcy on drums and Ronnie Johnson on bass\, NYC/Nashville veteran pedal steel\, mandolin\, guitar wiz Jon Graboff and on keyboards and accordions\, Radoslav Loković. As always\, there are some stellar originals (if you fall\, red buddha laughs\, so it goes & carnival town among them). Also a couple of moving covers\, Greg Trooper’s they call me Hank and an English translation of legendary Italian singer songwriter Francesco de Gregori’s most famous song\, Rimmel\, which has already been featured on RAI\, Italian state television.\nIn 2020\, the global pandemic struck just as Jaime was heading to Italy for a tour. The virus curtailed Jaime’s touring for the past year. In the meantime he has been performing online and has just released a single\, co-written with Austin songwriter Jeff Talmadge\, called “in My Home” about the strange times we find ourselves in.\nIt Is receiving global airplay.\na few kind words:\n“He writes songs with special meanings…with a sense of purpose\, a sense of belief that music is as critical to life as breathing itself.”\nWanda Adams Fischer WAMC/NY\n“Jaime Michaels creates songs that follow the lives of ancestors and neighbors in tales told with the graceful edge of a master storyteller.”\nDanny McCloskey / the Alternate Root\nHopefully soon\, Jaime’s travels will continue to take him around the US and occasionally to Europe\, playing house concerts\, festivals\, and arts venues. Just Jaime and his wonderfully worn Taylor guitar. And the songs.\nwww.jaimemichaels.com\nAND Ray Cerbone!\nOne of the founding members of the Fort Myers ACMA (Americana Community Music Association)\, Ray began playing guitar during the late 60’s folk scene. With the support and inspiration of fellow local and touring musicians\, he began writing and playing in earnest in 2010. Traveling a long road in a short time\, his music encompasses many genres\, including Americana\, Folk\, Blues\, Ballads\, and a little bit of Country. His storyteller style takes the listener to another place in time\, his music and lyrics bringing evocative insights into the many sides of life. Ray is also a singer-songwriter’s song-singer. That is\, he does interpretive covers of great originals by other very talented singer/songwriters using his own creative touch. His inventive fingerstyle guitar is uniquely diverse and easy-on-the-ears. Ray’s recently released CD\, “How Much Time”\, has received glowing reviews stateside and overseas.\nwww.steelonwood.com

SUMMARY:Feed Florida - ACMA showcase to benefit the Harry Chapin Food Bank of SW Florida
DESCRIPTION:ACMA is sponsoring this weekly event to raise money for the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida. Each Monday will feature a different musical guest. All proceeds go directly to the Harry Chapin Food Bank.\nHosting this series is our own Kim Mayfield.\nThis week our featured artist is Karen Cohen. She began playing guitar as a teenager\, finger picking Traditional Folk songs and Contemporary Acoustic Musicians of the 60’s and 70’s. The Blues Revival at that time was on her radar\, but her interest in Delta Style and Pre-war Blues was not piqued until 2005. Role models for Woman Blues players were far and few between\, but Karen became inspired by 2 modern day trailblazers; Bonnie Raitt and Rory Block.\nMore recently\, Karen’s focus has turned to the Early Women of the Blues\, interpreting their songs and bring their music to light.\nKaren brings an authentic feel to their music\, and like them\, she adds her own authenticity to all the songs she writes and covers.\nIf you are able to help provide financial support\, there will be a link to donate under the video. Any level contribution from couch change up helps keep our less fortunate friends and neighbors from going hungry during these tough times. Just watch this page for the red Facebook LIVE icon!

SUMMARY:Sally Barris Facebook Live Stream/ACMA member John Tilley Opens
DESCRIPTION:Sally has graced the ACMA stage in person a few times in our history. We’ve always been so glad to have her back….This time Sally will be with us virtually for a Facebook Live Stream. She’s been working on and releasing a brand new CD! Looking forward to hearing wonderful music from Sally Barris!\nSally Barris is a Nashville songwriter who has had songs covered by such top-level artists as Kathy Mattea\, Martina McBride\, and Lee Ann Womack. Her song “Let The Wind Chase You\,” recorded by Trisha Yearwood and Keith Urban\, received a Grammy nomination for vocal collaboration in 2009.While her writing credits mightily impress\, fans and peers are most captivated by her bright spirit and expressive mountain soprano. Dirty Linen says “Barris knows how to write lyrics that are as forthright as a stream of clear water and how to support them with melodies that share that quality”. Sally also performs with Templeton Thompson and Sam Gay in a trio called “The High Lonesome Dreamers”. The Minnesota native has performed Mountain Stage\, New Bedford Summer Fest\, Wildflower Arts & Music Festival and The Kerrville Folk Festival. Sally recently released her sixth CD\, “Grasshopper Mile”.\nwww.sallybarris.com\nOpening for Sally is new ACMA member John Tilley. One of the silver linings of the pandemic is that the ACMA has been able to give our remote musicians a virtual opportunity to share their music with the ACMA and the general public.\nJohn sings Americana and was told by a major promo firm that he sings the “best Americana they have ever heard.” And just for fun he sings a lot of Classic Rock on Acoustic and some Country. He sings great John Denver and Elvis Tributes. He is critically acclaimed in Nashville and has many awards for Best Americana song and seven #1 hits in Americana on the radio. In the International Acoustic Awards with thousands of entrants from all over the world he made the quarterfinals.\nhttps://www.reverbnation.com/johntilley1620

SUMMARY:Claudia Schmidt/Chuck Williams concert
DESCRIPTION:Claudia was scheduled to perform at the ACMA this year after starting the booking process at least THREE years ago. Well\, she’s still singing for us\, but on youtube. Please join the ACMA for this pre-recorded ticketed youtube event for an evening of awesome music. Opening set by Chuck Williams!\nA LINK TO THE YOUTUBE WILL BE SENT TO TICKET HOLDERS PRIOR TO THE SHOW.\nClaudia Schmidt has been perfecting her craft of performing for almost four decades. It is a quirky and wonderful hodge-podge (her word!) of music\, poetry\, story\, laughter. drama\, and celebrating the moment. Work in clubs\, theaters\, festivals\, TV\, radio has added depth and dimension\, and since she has always included her original work along with very personal versions of the work of others\, what you get is a unique look at the world from someone who says what she sees with clarity\, humor\, and wonder. The San Francisco Bay Guardian said: Schmidt’s shows are a lot like falling in love. You never know what’s going to happen next\, chances are it’s going to be wonderful\, every moment is burned into your memory and you know you’ll never be the same again.” More succinctly\, Garrison Keiilor said “when Claudia sings a song\, it stays sung”\nwww.claudiaschmidt.com\nChuck Williams has been appearing throughout New England and in recent years has gone coast to coast with his music. He has been traveling to coffeehouses\, performing arts centers and festivals sowing seeds of his songs along the way.\nChuck has mastered is how to pull at Americana heartstrings and tell rootsy stories through his simple and effective novella type lyrics. Chuck has a personable singing style and it’s not done to impress but express.\nHis music has some of the same energies of songwriters such as David Crosby\, John Prine\, and definitely Neil Young\, while not sounding like any of them. There is something here that a lot of people are going to latch on to\, especially in these trying times. Chuck’s music does exactly what it is suppose to do…..it reaches emotions in the listener. It gives words to feelings we all share and provokes thought long after the music is over. His style is unique yet it feels familiar.

SUMMARY:John Wort Hannam Zoom. Ricky Baker opens!
DESCRIPTION:The ACMA welcomes Canadian songwriter John Wort Hannam to our virtual stage for the first time via ZOOM. We’ll have a short Q & A session after the concert with Ricky and John so you can get a chance to chat with both of them.. Reserve your seat at the link below!\n\nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/…/john-wort-hannam-zoom…\n“JOHN WORT HANNAM HAS A VOICE THAT CAN CONVEY REGRET\, SORROW\, JOY\, AND LOVE IN EQUAL MEASURE\, AND HIS SONGWRITING IS EQUAL TO THE TASK OF BRINGING OUT ALL THESE EMOTIONS…INSIGHTFUL LYRICS\, TERRIFIC MELODIES\, AND ENGAGING MUSIC.” GREAT DARK WONDER\nIn 2001\, John Wort Hannam quit his teaching job and spent 10 months depleting his savings while sat at his kitchen table\, wearing a lucky hat\, writing his first ten songs. Those songs would become his first recording Pocket Full Of Holes\, released in 2003.\nEighteen years later\, the Alberta musician has released seven full-length recordings and has a few feathers in that lucky hat. Feathers that include a JUNO nomination\, a Canadian Folk Music Award for Best Album of the Year\, A CBC Galaxie Rising Star Award\, a Kerrville Texas New Folk win\, and numerous Western Canadian Music Award and Canadian Folk Music Award nominations.\nRecent years have seen a great deal of change in John’s life – becoming a Dad\, turning 50\, a move to the big city (Lethbridge)\, a marital reckoning\, a long\, deep bout of depression\, and episodes of losing his singing voice. But John has emerged a better songwriter\, a better singer\, and a better player. On Acres Of Elbow Room\, John has further found his lyrical style and has landed squarely on his niche in the folk/roots world. He’s spent years learning the craft of songwriting and is taking those tools to write some of his most personal songs. He has\, quite literally\, found his voice.\nThese days John Wort Hannam has the same lucky hat but a new sound\, a new band\, a new confidence\, and a ton of new songs. – John is making waves in a new soundscape.\nwww.johnworthannam.com\nACMA member musician Ricky Baker will open for John! Here’s a bit about Ricky “in his own words”\nI started picking and singing back in the late 50’s in Greenwich Village. Got married\, worked\, and got back to music about fifteen years ago in Las Vegas. I’ve been playing around the Ft. Myers area for the last six years.

SUMMARY:Cliff Eberhardt Facebook Live/Louise Mosrie opens.
DESCRIPTION:Cliff and Louise would have been back on our stage on this very day however\, you know what happened. We are happy to welcome them back virtually. They will be streaming on our ACMA FB page with a virtual tip jar available on FB at \nhttps://www.facebook.com/Americana-Community-Music-Association-186132008151817/\n\nCliff Eberhardt knew by age seven that he was going to be a singer and songwriter. Growing up in Berwyn\, Pennsylvania\, he and his brothers sang together and their parents played instruments. His dad introduced him to the guitar and he quickly taught himself to play. Fortunate enough to live close to the Main Point (one of the best folk clubs on the East Coast)\, he cut his teeth listening to the likes of James Taylor\, Joni Mitchell\, Bruce Springsteen\, Howlin’ Wolf\, Muddy Waters\, Bonnie Raitt\, and Mississippi John Hurt — receiving an early and impressive tutorial in acoustic music. At the same time\, he was also listening to great pop songwriters like Cole Porter\, the Gershwins\, and Rodgers and Hart\, which explain his penchant for great melodies and clever lyrical twists.\n\n\nAt fifteen\, Cliff and his brother Geoff began touring as an acoustic duo\, playing the Eastern club circuit until Cliff turned twenty-one and moved to Carbondale\, Illinois. There he found space to develop his own voice within a vibrant and supportive music scene that included Shawn Colvin. After a couple of years there and a short stay in Colorado\, Cliff moved to New York in 1978. Because the clubs were great (the Bitter End\, the Speakeasy\, Kenny’s Castaway\, Folk City) and the company amazing (John Gorka\, Suzanne Vega\, Lucy Kaplansky\, Julie Gold\, Steve Forbert\, Christine Lavin\, and Shawn Colvin)\, New York was an ideal musician’s boot camp. Though he put in long hours as a taxi driver\, Cliff worked steadily on his music throughout the 80’s\, doing solo gigs and studio work\, and playing guitar on the road with Richie Havens\, Melanie and others. Singing advertising jingles for products like Coke\, Miller Beer and Chevrolet (“The Heartbeat of America” campaign) allowed him to devote more time to his songwriting.\n\n\nIn 1990 Cliff’s song “My Father’s Shoes\,” appeared on Windham Hill’s Legacy collection\, leading to a deal with the label. They released Cliff’s first album\, The Long Road (1990)\, a work featuring a duet with Richie Havens. The critical response to this debut was outstanding (The Philadelphia Inquirer called the album a “repeatedly astounding collection”). He followed with two more records on Windham Hill before releasing 12 Songs of Good and Evil (1997) on Red House Records\, which stemmed from a chance meeting with Red House founder Bob Feldman at John Gorka’s wedding. Cliff recorded two more albums before his critically acclaimed The High Above and the Down Below\, named the #5 album of 2007 by USA Today. Produced by Eric Peltoniemi\, it was recorded in Minneapolis with noted jazz players Gordy Johnson\, J. T. Bates and Rich Dworsky and was his first album after spending several years recovering from a car accident.\n\n\nWith a new lease on life and a fresh batch of songs\, Cliff embarked on what has turned out to be an artistic renaissance. Recorded in the Texas Hill Country\, Cliff’s 2009 album 500 Miles: The Blue Rock Sessions may be his finest to date. An intimate album of powerful originals and unique covers\, it features a reworking of his hit “The Long Road\,” a song made more poignant after nearly two decades of touring and recording. Long one of the most respected songwriters on the club scene\, his peers often mine his catalog for themselves. Cliff’s song “Memphis” was included on Cry Cry Cry\, an album of collaborative covers by the “folk supergroup” of the same name (comprised of Dar Williams\, Lucy Kaplansky and Richard Shindell). Other performers who have recorded his songs include Richie Havens\, Shawn Colvin\, Russ Taff\, David Broza/Maura O’Connell and Buffy Sainte Marie. A collection of his songs has been published in The Cliff Eberhardt Songbook (Cherry Lane Publishing).\n\n\nIn 2011\, Cliff got a phone call from the Folger Theatre and Shakespeare Library in Washington DC. They had been listening to his song\, “That Kind of Love” along with director Aaron Posner and got the brilliant idea to hire Cliff to write original songs for the Shakespeare classic “The Taming of the Shrew”. It would be set in the old West – Deadwood style – and Cliff would be cast as the blind but wise old saloon singer bookending scenes with his poignant songs and guitar phrases. The play was a huge success and won much critical acclaim across town and 7 weeks of solid sold-out shows in the Spring of 2012. In 2013\, Cliff was nominated for a coveted Helen Hayes Award for Sound Design and he and the cast won for Best Ensemble and Best Play. Some of the songs on Shrew Songs are from Cliff’s past work and some are brand new. The stripped down production enhances the immediate intimacy of Cliff’s songwriting. You don’t have to have seen the play to love this record! It’s available for sale now only through this website or at Cliff’s shows.\n\n\nIn 2018\, Cliff was hired by Aaron Posner and The Roundhouse Theater in MD to write and perform in a modern re-telling of the Sophocles play\, “Philoctetes” – called “The Heal”. “The Heal” will debut at the Getty Villa in Malibu on September 5th\, 2019. Cliff spent a whole year painstakingly composing\, arranging and recording the 9 tracks for the play. Available in his “Store” here on this site.\n\n\nCliff is well-known as a songwriting teacher all over the U.S. at songwriting camps and private lessons. He also produces\, arranges and advises on other artist’s recordings. He tours constantly.\nwww.cliffeberhardt.com\nLouse Mosrie:\nLouise Mosrie grew up in McEwen\, TN on a cattle farm – riding horses and writing poetry. She began writing songs after college while working in TV/radio in Knoxville. She moved back to the Nashville area in 2004 and began co-writing with country\, bluegrass and folk artists (Donna Ulisse\, Mike Richardson) and writers. Louise had a major creative breakthrough in 2007 when she had a fortuitous co-writing session with famed Americana producer and writer\, Ray Kennedy (Steve Earle\, Lucinda Williams). They wrote the song\, “Doubling Back”\, for a documentary film by IU professor\, Ron Osgood\, called “My Vietnam\, Your Iraq” which was broadcast on PBS stations nationwide.\nLouise started writing songs about the South – what she knew and where she grew up. In 2008\, she began working on a new album eventually to be called “Home” because she’d come full circle in her “voice” as a writer. The album was a mix of bluegrass\, country and folk and as she weaved in lush stories and songs about southern life\, she was even introduced once as “…William Faulkner with a guitar”. With those songs\, she entered some song contests connected to festivals and ended up winning top awards at Kerrville Folk Festival\, Wildflower! Festival\, Telluride Bluegrass Festival and Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. “Home” debuted at #1 on the Folk DJ charts in January 2010 and went on to be one of the most played albums that year for that chart.\nBuoyed by a couple thousand earnest fans\, she began touring all over the Eastern seaboard\, the South and Texas. Audience members would tell her that they enjoyed the stories between the songs as much as the songs and her strong expressive voice was described as “…like listening to Patty Griffin and Susan Tedeschi at the same time.” She’s played at The Bluebird Café in Nashville\, Club Passim in Boston\, Caffé Lena in NY and was just recently invited to play at The Birchmere in Washington DC.\nIn 2012\, her 15-year marriage ended and her mother was diagnosed with brain cancer and died 6 months later. Out of those dark days came some new songs that would eventually be recorded on her newest release “Lay It Down”: 10 songs of love\, loss and surrender. On “Lay It Down”\, she collaborated with folk-rock songwriter/producer\, Cliff Eberhardt\, who envisioned that minimalist arrangements and restrained production would allow the emotional songs and Louise’s voice a stark relief to rest and shine in.\nThe new CD\, “Lay It Down”\, was released in late summer/Fall 2014…and landed on several “Best of” lists. Louise is always writing new songs…..\n“Louise Mosrie may well be the brightest young folk-oriented artist to emerge from Nashville in many a year.” – Rich Warren\, WFMT-FM\, The Midnight Special\, Chicago\nContact: louise@louisemosrie.com\nve Wildsmith\, The Daily Times\, Maryville\, TN\n“The songwriting is really strong\, the production is great and your voice quite beautiful. The more important thing to me\, though\, is that the songs are truly convincing.” – Lauryn Shapter\, KRUU-FM\n“Excellent\, great songs and your singing is really good and soulful.” – Lloyd Maines\, Grammy award-winning producer\, musician and songwriter\n\n\nSome of the venues played:\n30A Songwriting Festival\nOpelika Songwriting Festival\nJoe Davies Song Fest\nKerrville Folk Festival\nTelluride Bluegrass Festival\nBristol Rhythm & Roots Festival\nFalcon Ridge Folk Festival\nWildflower Folk Festival\nDogwood Arts Festival\nBluebird Cafe\nUncle Calvin’s Coffeehouse\nThe Birchmere Music Hall\nClub Passim\nWFMT Folkstage Chicago\nThe Evening Muse\nThe Down Home\nDouglas Corner\nMoonlight on the Mountain\n\n\nOpener for:\nAmerica\nJoe Ely\nSteve Earle\nJonatha Brooke\nAllison Moorer\nCliff Eberhardt\nGreg Trooper\nMalcom Holcomb\nMindy Smith\nEllis Paul\nVance Gilbert\nTerri Hendrix
