SUMMARY:ACMA@Alliance with The Reckless Saints. Java Moon Band opens!
DESCRIPTION:Our ACMA@Alliance Concerts continue!\nPurchase tickets in advance at www.artinlee.org. \n\nWe will be accepting the first 132 people for concert reservations. IF weather threatens the outdoor concert it will be moved to our indoor theatre for general admission seats. If there is no weather threat we will sell additional tickets at the door the day of the concert. For this concert only rain time is 5 PM>.\n\nThe Reckless Saints bring their Blue Twangled Folk and Roll to the Green Market Stage\neckless Saints founder Roy Schneider was 16 and in hiding when a friend loaned him a guitar. He had just broken out of a Straight\, Inc. facility after a horrific year-long incarceration\, where he had been denied the right to play an instrument or even listen to music. Having access to a guitar again – as well as the support of good friends – helped him survive while he waited to turn 18\, and begin his lifelong love affair with making music. Schneider went on to pursue visual arts\, learning how to design toys in 3D\, and writing and drawing syndicated comic strip “The Humble Stumble” through United Media. Ultimately\, his passion for the many flavors of music that define the Americana genre\, combined with his innate ability to play most anything with strings\, led him to give up the ‘day jobs’ for a career in music.\n\nHe was making a living performing in local bars when Roy met Kim Mayfield. She added keyboard\, mandolin\, rhythm guitar\, harmony vocals\, and the idea to take the music on the road. .\n\nReckless Saints\, the CD\, has hovered in the top 50 on Roots Music Reports Americana Country chart since shortly after its release\, and was included in their ‘Best of 2019’ list. The album features production ‘Guidance Counselor’ Gurf Morlix on the lone cover- Blaze Foley’s Election Day. Other guest artists include Freebo (Bonnie Raitt) on bass and Country Music Hall of Famer Charlie McCoy on harmonica.\nwww.therecklesssaints.com\n\nOpening the show will be ACMA members Box and Lucia Cox as Java Moon Band. The Java Moon Band consists of Bob Cox\, Lucia Jenkins\, and Guy Rienzi. Lucia’s songs are folk and funk-fused\, with jazz tinged elements. Guy’s originals cover a wide range of styles from root based rock to blues. Bob anchors the band as bass player and co-singer. The Java Moon Band plays regularly at local Naples venues and their schedule can be found at https://www.facebook.com/javamoonband

SUMMARY:Louise Mosrie Coombe in concert. Kim Mayfield opens
DESCRIPTION:As life happens around us sometimes we have to make adjustments. Our December 4th concert will feature Louise Mosrie Coombe and ACMA member Kim Mayfield will open!\nSuggested door donations $15 members/$20 General public.\nAbout COVID:\nAt this time\, RSVPs are not necessary\, however\, masks are required and vaccinations requested. The safety of our audience\, musicians and hosts is our top priority. Thank you for your cooperation so we can once again gather to enjoy live music in a listening atmosphere!\nCool stuff about Louise:\nLouise Mosrie grew up in McEwen\, TN on a cattle farm – riding horses and writing poetry. She began writing songs after college while working in TV/radio in Knoxville. She moved back to the Nashville area in 2004 and began co-writing with country\, bluegrass and folk artists (Donna Ulisse\, Mike Richardson) and writers. Louise had a major creative breakthrough in 2007 when she had a fortuitous co-writing session with famed Americana producer and writer\, Ray Kennedy (Steve Earle\, Lucinda Williams). They wrote the song\, “Doubling Back”\, for a documentary film by IU professor\, Ron Osgood\, called “My Vietnam\, Your Iraq” which was broadcast on PBS stations nationwide.\nAudience members would tell her that they enjoyed the stories between the songs as much as the songs and her strong expressive voice was described as “…like listening to Patty Griffin and Susan Tedeschi at the same time.” She’s played at The Bluebird Café in Nashville\, Club Passim in Boston\, Caffé Lena in NY and was just recently invited to play at The Birchmere in Washington DC.\nThe new CD\, “Lay It Down”\, was released in late summer/Fall 2014…and landed on several “Best of” lists. Louise is always writing new songs…..\n“Louise Mosrie may well be the brightest young folk-oriented artist to emerge from Nashville in many a year.” – Rich Warren\, WFMT-FM\, The Midnight Special\, Chicago\n\n\nSolarFest performing Songwriting Winner 2016\nFolk Alliance International Official Showcase 2014\nRocky Mtn. Folks Festival Showcase Artist 2012\nFalcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist\n2011 “Voted Most Wanted to Return”\nTelluride Bluegrass Festival Troubadour Contest 2011 runner-up\nWildflower! Festival Performing Songwriter Contest 2010 Winner\nKerrville Folk Festival New Folk Songwriting Competition 2009 and 2020 Winner\nKim Mayfield:\nKim is better known as half of the Americana duo Roy Schneider & Kim Mayfield (now called Reckless Saints). Reviewers have described her music as “pearly and sashaying”\, “pleasantly invoking the legendary Tammy Wynette” “most like Jewell” and ‘haunted by Patsy Cline”. Mayfield’s song “Ring Around the Moon” made he a semi-finalist in the 2019 International Songwriting Competition. Kim is currently at work on a new Reckless Saints project to be followed by her first solo record.\nwww.therecklesssaints.com

On December 10\, 2020\, MacDonald released his 13th solo recording\, Boulevard\, on Blue Flute Music.\n\nA tenor with a clear voice and wide range\, MacDonald is often cited for both his musicality and the content of his songs about political and social events: “Rod MacDonald is a brilliant folk singer and composer. His melodic songs possess words that go straight into your heart and soul.” The Press Of Atlantic City … “A poet with a lot on his mind who has never allowed himself to make points at the expense of making music.” The Boston Globe … “True to the folk tradition\, MacDonald is not afraid to get political\, take chances\, and perhaps shock some people….MacDonald’s place in the folk hall of fame is assured by his ‘A Sailor’s Prayer\,’ a hymn-styled tune that many people have mistaken for a traditional song.” All-Music Guide.\nAlthough usually labeled a folk singer\, his musical styles include rock\, pop\, country\, light jazz\, and blues. In addition to his work in Greenwich Village and Florida\, he has written extensively of experiences on US Indian reservations and in Europe\, living in Italy from 1989 to 1992.\nwww.rodmacdonald.com.\nAmericana Community Music Association member musician Ross Jordan will open the show. Ross has been writing songs since he picked up a guitar at age 10. His songs reflect the regional influences from all of the parts of the country that he has lived from New Jersey to the West Coast to the Mid-West and now Southwest Florida\, His songs feature catchy tunes and lyrics and audience members can often be seen dancing and swaying and singing along. He is 1/2 of the duo “The Obstructionists”\, with David Hintz and can be seen playing shows in Lee County and beyond!\nhttps://www.reverbnation.com/rossjordan

SUMMARY:Evening in a Songwriter's Living Room.
DESCRIPTION:Evening in a Songwriter’s Living Room. \nLong time ACMA member David Martin\, now in New Mexico has but together a songwriters showcase that includes a few local friends with some intriguing musical backgrounds.  \nLink will be available 9-10 7 pm. https://youtu.be/1dHYThwWKnw \nACMA presents an Evening in a Songwriter’s Living Room. Tom Adler\, Michael R.J. Roth\, and David Martin will each perform their original material of acoustic Americana\, folk\, country\, and other styles.  \nTom\, David\, and Michael met over thirty years ago when all were involved with the “Sweet Inspiration” coffee house in downtown Santa Fe.  They got back in contact after Tom and David played a couple of gigs at local restaurants\, and David and Michael ran into each other at a songwriter’s circle in Santa Fe. \nTom was an adjunct faculty member at Santa Fe University of Art & Design teaching the acoustic Americana ensemble\, songwriting seminar and folk guitar and banjo.  His background includes many years and a wide range as a performing/recording musician and stage actor.   Tom played with the Fast Peso String Band\, toured as a singer/songwriter appearing in film and on television and radio.   Tom was currently a member of the folk/Americana band\, Bootleg Prophets.  Tom’s big secret that few people know is that he worked as a chimney sweep in the early eighties! Tom enjoys listening to music as much as performing it and loves to share folk music from the US and around the world (especially older recordings!) with his listeners Tom Adler has been a presence in the Santa Fe music scene for more than 50 years. Tom plays guitar and banjo with the Fast Peso String Band and his music has been in feature films and on NPR. He has 3 CD’s available.  https://www.amazon.com/Tom-Adler/e/B000APG8XS \nMichael R. J. Roth has lived most of his life in New Mexico. His well crafted lyrics and melodies have won several song contests. He has been called “a cool dark troubadour…a modern day poet not unlike Townes Van Zandt” and a “Jedi songwriter\,” evoking a mix of Leonard Cohen\, Gordon Lightfoot\, Johnny Cash\, Jason Isbell and others with lyrics known for their intriguing imagery and “deep\, profound truth.” Lori McKenna called him “Brilliant.” \nHe was the lyric winner of the 2019 NSAI Song Contest\, the Great American Song Contest\, and a Gold Award winner in the 2018 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest. He is featured in the Great American Song Hall of Fame\, and is known for his award-winning\, original acoustic songs with “the kind of lyrics that make Nashville writers salivate.” NSAI named him “One to Watch.” https://easyheroes.com/ \nDavid Martin started learning guitar in sixth grade\, and played his first gig at about 14\, a church wedding.  He got $50\, playing guitar behind a singer for 3 songs\, and realized this was easier than making burgers.  David played bass in several bands around Texas and New Mexico\, opening for Asleep at the Wheel\, Townes Van Zandt\, Alvin Crow and the Pleasant Valley Boys\, and playing six nights a week at steakhouses and theme restaurants.  David retired from his day job at Los Alamos National Laboratory\, and is writing and performing around Santa Fe.  David produced and wrote a couple of songs translated by ACMA member Maria Valsi into Portuguese which are available on SoundCloud and other streaming services.  David’s song “Say A Prayer For Me” was selected as best folk song of 2020 by the New Mexico Music Association.  His songs range from simple country to bossa nova. \n https://youtube.com/user/DesertSailor26

SUMMARY:Feed Florida featuring Little Fools
DESCRIPTION:Hosting the series is ACMA member Kim Mayfield.\nThis week our featured act is Little Fools\, AKA John R. Butler & Susan Chastain.\nJohn R. Butler first played music for money during the Johnson administration. The LYNDON Johnson administration. Butler went on to play in a number of bands and as a solo performer throughout high school\, college and later.\nHis songwriting has garnered prizes at the Kerrville (TX) New Folk competition\, the Will McLean Music Festival and the South Florida Folk Festival. One of Butler’s songs was included in the soundtrack of the 2013 feature film \, “Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3-D\,” starring absolutely no one you’d recognize.\nThese days Butler airs out his musical mojo alongside Susan Chastain\, erstwhile jazz chanteuse and current belter of ballads\, diva of ditties\, marquessa of melodies.\nVocalist Susan Chastain began performing at the age of 3\, atop her mother’s bar in Oklawaha\, Florida. Leaving the jukebox behind\, she grew up to be a jazz and big band singer for over 30 years\, and still is! She met singer/songwriter/guitarist John R. Butler and he convinced her to swing over to the dark side…old country\, old rock\, old blues\, old soul\, and his (not old) original compositions.

SUMMARY:Brian Smalley in concert! Matt Hannam opens.
DESCRIPTION:We are so excited to welcome Brian Smalley back to our stage at the beginning of our fall/winter “We’re BACK series” ! And equally excited that one of our founding members\,\nMatt Hannam\, will play an opening set.\nWe hope that you will join us in this very special evening at the ACMA.\nSuggested donation.  $18.00\nMasks not required for those fully vaccinated. Please keep in mind that COVID-19 is not gone\, and there are new variants that still threaten our health and welfare. We appreciate everyone taking all necessary precautions to to keep you and your fellow audience members safe..\nwww.briansmalley.com\nhttp://www.reverbnation.com/matthannam\n\n\nHere’s a bit about Brian\n“Brian Smalley is a Florida guitar picker with ten crafty fingers\, a variety of musical styles and multiple personalities” Having played guitar all his life\, Brian has developed some skill on the git-box\, and possessing a creative (and somewhat disturbed) imagination\, he is a master storyteller. Before ‘CHOSEN\,’ he’d recorded six projects. His acoustic novel “ChickensPigs” received the Best Florida Folk CD award from The Florida Times Union in 2013. And thousands have enjoyed the tale of Painter Kellet\, a homeless man in Key West\, from the acoustic novel ‘KEY.’ But now the floodgates have been loosed\, and teaming up with Gatorbone Recording Studio\, Brian and friends give us some real ear-candy with ‘CHOSEN.’ Over the top production value\, musicianship to beat the band\, and a riveting storyline makes this a pleasurable and thrilling listening experience.
