SUMMARY:Evening in a Songwriter's Living Room.
DESCRIPTION:Evening in a Songwriter’s Living Room. \nLong time ACMA member David Martin\, now in New Mexico has but together a songwriters showcase that includes a few local friends with some intriguing musical backgrounds.  \nLink will be available 9-10 7 pm. https://youtu.be/1dHYThwWKnw \nACMA presents an Evening in a Songwriter’s Living Room. Tom Adler\, Michael R.J. Roth\, and David Martin will each perform their original material of acoustic Americana\, folk\, country\, and other styles.  \nTom\, David\, and Michael met over thirty years ago when all were involved with the “Sweet Inspiration” coffee house in downtown Santa Fe.  They got back in contact after Tom and David played a couple of gigs at local restaurants\, and David and Michael ran into each other at a songwriter’s circle in Santa Fe. \nTom was an adjunct faculty member at Santa Fe University of Art & Design teaching the acoustic Americana ensemble\, songwriting seminar and folk guitar and banjo.  His background includes many years and a wide range as a performing/recording musician and stage actor.   Tom played with the Fast Peso String Band\, toured as a singer/songwriter appearing in film and on television and radio.   Tom was currently a member of the folk/Americana band\, Bootleg Prophets.  Tom’s big secret that few people know is that he worked as a chimney sweep in the early eighties! Tom enjoys listening to music as much as performing it and loves to share folk music from the US and around the world (especially older recordings!) with his listeners Tom Adler has been a presence in the Santa Fe music scene for more than 50 years. Tom plays guitar and banjo with the Fast Peso String Band and his music has been in feature films and on NPR. He has 3 CD’s available.  https://www.amazon.com/Tom-Adler/e/B000APG8XS \nMichael R. J. Roth has lived most of his life in New Mexico. His well crafted lyrics and melodies have won several song contests. He has been called “a cool dark troubadour…a modern day poet not unlike Townes Van Zandt” and a “Jedi songwriter\,” evoking a mix of Leonard Cohen\, Gordon Lightfoot\, Johnny Cash\, Jason Isbell and others with lyrics known for their intriguing imagery and “deep\, profound truth.” Lori McKenna called him “Brilliant.” \nHe was the lyric winner of the 2019 NSAI Song Contest\, the Great American Song Contest\, and a Gold Award winner in the 2018 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest. He is featured in the Great American Song Hall of Fame\, and is known for his award-winning\, original acoustic songs with “the kind of lyrics that make Nashville writers salivate.” NSAI named him “One to Watch.” https://easyheroes.com/ \nDavid Martin started learning guitar in sixth grade\, and played his first gig at about 14\, a church wedding.  He got $50\, playing guitar behind a singer for 3 songs\, and realized this was easier than making burgers.  David played bass in several bands around Texas and New Mexico\, opening for Asleep at the Wheel\, Townes Van Zandt\, Alvin Crow and the Pleasant Valley Boys\, and playing six nights a week at steakhouses and theme restaurants.  David retired from his day job at Los Alamos National Laboratory\, and is writing and performing around Santa Fe.  David produced and wrote a couple of songs translated by ACMA member Maria Valsi into Portuguese which are available on SoundCloud and other streaming services.  David’s song “Say A Prayer For Me” was selected as best folk song of 2020 by the New Mexico Music Association.  His songs range from simple country to bossa nova. \n https://youtube.com/user/DesertSailor26

SUMMARY:Feed Florida featuring Little Fools
DESCRIPTION:Hosting the series is ACMA member Kim Mayfield.\nThis week our featured act is Little Fools\, AKA John R. Butler & Susan Chastain.\nJohn R. Butler first played music for money during the Johnson administration. The LYNDON Johnson administration. Butler went on to play in a number of bands and as a solo performer throughout high school\, college and later.\nHis songwriting has garnered prizes at the Kerrville (TX) New Folk competition\, the Will McLean Music Festival and the South Florida Folk Festival. One of Butler’s songs was included in the soundtrack of the 2013 feature film \, “Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3-D\,” starring absolutely no one you’d recognize.\nThese days Butler airs out his musical mojo alongside Susan Chastain\, erstwhile jazz chanteuse and current belter of ballads\, diva of ditties\, marquessa of melodies.\nVocalist Susan Chastain began performing at the age of 3\, atop her mother’s bar in Oklawaha\, Florida. Leaving the jukebox behind\, she grew up to be a jazz and big band singer for over 30 years\, and still is! She met singer/songwriter/guitarist John R. Butler and he convinced her to swing over to the dark side…old country\, old rock\, old blues\, old soul\, and his (not old) original compositions.

SUMMARY:Feed Florida - featuring Elizabeth Lockhart
DESCRIPTION:Feed Florida is a weekly ACMA sponsored event raising money for our local food bank. Each Monday will feature a different musical guest with all proceeds going directly to the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida.\nHosting the series is ACMA member Kim Mayfield.\nThis week our featured act is Elizabeth Lockhart.\nElizabeth Lockhart was just six years old when her voice brought chills to audiences during solo performances as she delivered gospel music with a rich\, full vocal range. She was selected to open for Reba McEntire at age 12 and chose to study Opera Performance at North Carolina School of the Arts\, reaching the professional staus of opera singer.\nElizabeth spent most of her early career performing and teaching classical music\, theatre and art song literature. But it was when she found folk/roots music that she was inspired to develop her self-taught guitar and writing style. Reminiscent of 60’s folk revival women icons such as Joan Baez\, Judy Collins\, and Joanie Mitchell. Elizabeth Lockhart has the ability to tug at a listener’s heart strings through her haunting melodies\, stories and rich vocals.

Before ‘CHOSEN\,’ he’d recorded six projects. His acoustic novel “ChickensPigs” received the Best Florida Folk CD award from The Florida Times Union in 2013. And thousands have enjoyed the tale of Painter Kellet\, a homeless man in Key West\, from the acoustic novel ‘KEY.’ But now the floodgates have been loosed\, and teaming up with Gatorbone Recording Studio\, Brian and friends give us some real ear-candy with ‘CHOSEN.’ Over the top production value\, musicianship to beat the band\, and a riveting storyline makes this a pleasurable and thrilling listening experience.

SUMMARY:Feed Florida - featuring Dan Philgreen
DESCRIPTION:Feed Florida is a weekly ACMA sponsored event raising money for our local food bank. Each Monday will feature a different musical guest with all proceeds going directly to the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida.\nHosting the series is ACMA member Kim Mayfield.\nThis week our featured act is Dan Philgreen….\nAfter failed attempts at violin and piano\, Dan Philgreen picked up the guitar in the 7th grade. Like many of his age he was very influenced by the many singer-songwriters that were at the height of their popularity during the 70’s when he was in high school\, as well as the folk-rock bands of that era\, such as Crosby\, Stills\, and Nash. He has played in church for much of his life but has also always had a love for folk music which never had much of an outlet before his moving to Fort Myers\, where he is now the Technical Arts Manager at Shell Point’s new Tribby Arts Center and is an on-camera Anchor on their daily in-house TV show. The founding of the Americana Community Music Association opened a door of opportunity to develop and share his music in a community of folks who are also passionate about this genre. Though he dabbled in song-writing earlier in his life and had a few songs to his credit\, the inspiration of the ACMA’s songwriter’s circle spurred him to write many more songs over the past few years. His playing has also developed to a higher point in the last decade and he says that\, with age\, his voice is finally starting to cooperate as well. Dan’s songs are based on his observations of life and the beauty he sees in the world. They deal with the challenges of life honestly\, but always attempt to leave the listener with hope.\n\nIf you are able to help provide financial support\, there will be a link to donate under the video. SUMMARY:Feed Florida - An ACMA sponsored benefit for the Harry Chapin Food Bank
DESCRIPTION:ACMA is sponsoring a weekly livestream showcase of our members and area musicians to benefit Harry Chapin Food Bank of SW FL. Each Monday we’ll feature a different musical guest with all proceeds going directly to Harry Chapin Food Bank.\nThe host for these events is our own Kim Mayfield.\nThis week our featured performer is Ray Cerbone. One of the founding members of the Fort Myers ACMA (Americana Community Music Association)\, Ray began playing guitar during the late 60’s folk scene. With the support and inspiration of fellow local and touring musicians\, he began writing and playing in earnest in 2010. Traveling a long road in a short time\, his music encompasses many genres\, including Americana\, Folk\, Blues\, Ballads\, and a little bit of Country. His storyteller style takes the listener to another place in time\, his music and lyrics bringing evocative insights into the many sides of life.\nIf you are able to help provide financial support\, there will be a link to donate under the video. Any level contribution from couch change up helps keep our less fortunate friends and neighbors from going hungry during these tough times. Just watch this page for the red Facebook LIVE icon!
