SUMMARY:Songwriters Showcase Tim Mcgeary\, Bill Metts\, & Bob Williams
DESCRIPTION:Songwriters Showcase  Tim Mcgeary\, Bill Metts\, & Bob Williams \nThis show came together when Doug MacLeod had to cancel for heath reasons. \nThe different ways to listen to music is endless. One of our favorites\, is three songwriters sharing the stage performing original songs and the stories behind the songs. For this show we have three very unique songwriters all with a story to tell. \nNew ACMA member Tim Mcgeary hails from Naples\, Florida where he has lived for the past 20 years. Tim has been writing songs and performing since the 80’s and was with the band “The Rescue” on AM records and toured with Billy Idol\, Roxy Music\, Depeche Mode\, The Cure and many more. Recently Tim got a publishing deal in Nashville as a songwriter. His songs have been featured on TV shows ( Smallville\, One Tree Hill\, Glory Days) and movies like\, Girl Got Moe (HBO)\, Most recently he had 7 of his songs placed in two full length motion pictures\, ” In Mysterious Ways”\, and “The Knowers”. His most recent band Wonderful Johnson\, opened for bands\, The Black Crows\, David Ball\, Sherrie Austin\, Confederate Railroad\, Wet Willie\, Rush Low and many more. Tim plays shows in SW Florida\, Nashville\, New York and New Jersey. \nBill Metts said\, he started playing guitar when was 19 during the country blues revival of the late 60s. I fell in love with the music of Taj Mahall\, Mississippi John Hurt\, Doc Watson and others of that ilk. Just about everything that I have done since then has been in that down-home finger-picking style. I had the honor of being asked to perform at the annual Mississippi John Hurt Blues Festival in Avalon Ms. in 2011. All types of music move me I but prefer to play and sing traditional Americana roots music. \nIn the late sixties\, Bob Williams\, a young guitar player from Long Island\, NY\, began writing his own music. Pulling elements from Folk-Rock and Country-Rock\, Bob created a sound all of his own. Always eager to share amusing stories behind the lyrics\, Bob’s songs are personal. Irreverent. Funny. Sad. And most importantly\, true to his heart. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Muriel Anderson with Ray Cerbone opening.Tickets Donation $15/20. Sunday Night
DESCRIPTION:SUNDAY Feb. 18th\, the ACMA welcomes back Muriel Anderson in concert\, complete with her stunninly beautiful AudioVisual show.\nOne of the world’s foremost fingerstyle guitarists and harp-guitarists\, Muriel Anderson is the first woman to have won the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship. She appears on the cover of Classical Guitar Magazine\, Spring 2017\, and concurrently in main feature stories in Guitar Player Magazine and Acoustic Guitar Magazine. Her recent CD “Nightlight Daylight” has won top honors in 11 national awards. She has performed/recorded with Chet Atkins\, Les Paul\, Victor Wooten and the Nashville Chamber Orchestra. Her obvious joy of music\, humor and her facility across the genres of folk\, classical\, jazz\, bluegrass and international music is revered by guitarists worldwide. An engaging performer\, Muriel’s unique approach to the instrument virtually transforms the guitar into a lyrical choir\, then a marching band\, then a Japanese koto\, then a Bluegrass band\, one minute launching into a Beatles’ tune and the next\, a Rodrigo concerto. Her video “Why Worry” has garnered a total of over 8 million views. Muriel is host of the renowned Muriel Anderson’s ALL STAR GUITAR NIGHT® and founder of the MUSIC FOR LIFE ALLIANCE charity. In addition\, her new program “Wonderlust” is highlighted by a backdrop of stunning visuals by celebrated photo-artist Bryan Allen. \nRecordings and Publications \nHer double CD “Nightlight Daylight” is the first ever to include an interactive fiber-optic lighted CD cover\, her own concept\, and includes collaborations with fellow musicians Victor Wooten\, Phil Keaggy\, Mark Kibble of Take 6\, Danny Gottlieb\, Stanley Jordan\, Tommy Emmanuel\, Earl Klugh\, Howard Levy\, Jeff Coffin\, Tierra Negra and members of the Nashville Symphony. \nHer recording of “El Noi de la Mare” appears in Woody Allen’s film “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.” and her “Heartstrings” recording accompanied the astronauts on the space shuttle Discovery. Muriel Anderson has released more than a dozen instrumental CD’s\, eight instructional DVD’s and guitar books published by Hal Leonard\, Mel Bay\, and Zen-On Japan. Her compositions include commissioned classical works for the Nashville Chamber Orchestra and Vox Caelestis Womens Choir\, as well as songs which have appeared as title tracks for three albums by various artists. \nEndorsements and Columnist \nMuriel has published articles in Guitar Player\, Acoustic Guitar\, Fingerstyle Guitar\, Classical Guitar and Frets magazines\, and is currently a regular columnist for Acoustic Guitar Japan magazine. She is a regular guest instructor for Truefire and at guitar workshops across the country. Some workshops are sponsored by her GHS Signature strings. She plays many handmade instruments including Camps Guitars\, Mike Doolin harp guitars\, Morris steel string guitars (Japan). She uses Seymour Duncan D-Tar and Barbera pickups. \nQuotes \nMuriel Anderson is a good friend and a great guitarist. She deserves national recognition\n…Chet Atkins \nJust one hell of a great player …a great personality and what I like is the touch that Muriel has on the guitar\, the way she plays it like we all wish to play.\n…Les Paul\nwww.murielanderson.com \nAbout Ray Cerbone:\nMy music is influenced by the songwriters of the mid 60’s through the writers of today. I moved to SW Florida 8 years ag\, and soon became one of the founding members of The Americana Community Music Association\, a Ft. Myers based group formed to promote original music\, and began writing my own songs. I had the privilege to open for Florida singer songwriters Roy Schneider\, Larry Mangum and Brian Smalley\, and also open for touring musicians Jamie Michaels\, Pierce Pettis and Robin O’Herin to name a few. I performed at The ACMA both solo and in special events\, like The Island Hopper Festival\, and local house concerts\, as well as folk festivals like Barberville\, Lake County\, Will MacLean Folk Festival and Sarasota where I won the open stage competition. Playing mostly fingerstyle guitar and original songs\, my music crosses several genres from storyteller ballads to folk to country based fun songs to blues.\nFive years ago\, after performing a song for a well-known rock drummer who was putting a contemporary blues band together\, I became the singer for The Apocalypse Blues Revue. Since then we have been signed to Mascot/Provogue Records\, recorded our first “full on” CD\, and completed our first tour. We have headlined at clubs and events as well as opened for the likes of Blue Oyster Cult\, Steven Tyler\, and Robbie Krieger of The Doors. Our second tour is in the works and most of the songs for our second CD have been written. We were recently informed that we were nominated by our record company for a Grammy in the “best new contemporary blues record” category. Our music has been featured on BB King’s Bluesville on Sirrius Radio as well as radio stations worldwide. Check us out on www.TheApocalypseBluesRevue.com. \nMy Blues project has not stopped me from writing new songs in the “Americana” genre…my first love\, and I continue to write and perform solo and with The ABR.”\nWebsite: facebook.com/RayCerboneAmericanaMusicA

SUMMARY:Lipbone Redding in concert. Opener Bruce & Cecile Gallant
DESCRIPTION:The ACMA is happy to welcome back the authentically entertaining master of the stage Lipbone Redding\, No loopers\, no special effects. All sounds are all Lipbone! Lipbone has taken his singular vocal instrumental style to a new level by playing guitar and producing all of the instrument sounds while simultaneously singing and storytelling without the use of electronic effects nor a loop pedal. Really\, you should check him out. \nIn his early twenties\, Lawrence “Lipbone” Redding migrated from North Carolina to New York City with his guitar. After a brief stint as an actor\, carpenter\, bartender and producer for the Museum of Sound Recording\, he promptly became a subway musician. \nFrom the swampy farmlands and beach towns of coastal North Carolina. Lipbone was steeped in the musical tradition of Soul\, Boogie and Blues. \nFrom 1998 to 2001 Lipbone honed his guitar and people skills amongst the underground caverns of New York City\, In 2002 his craft allowed him to travel and make a living wherever life took him: India\, Europe\, South America\, New Orleans\, San Francisco. Along the road\, he forged lifelong collaborative relationships with producers\, artists and masters around the globe. \nIn 2005 Lipbone Redding emerged into the vibrant East Village nightlife\, where he became a staple of the downtown music scene. From 2005-2012 he held a residency at the tiny but famous Jules Jazz Bistro on historic Saint Mark’s Place. Friday night and Sunday brunch with The Lipbone Orchestra became a regular happening frequented by hipsters and tourists alike. It was there amongst the champagne\, rowdy cabaret atmosphere and weekly packed house that Lipbone developed his signature jazzy Lip Trombone and unique style of musical storytelling. \nIn 2006\, In the East Village\, Lipbone met world famous producer Ahmet Ertegun\, founder of Atlantic Records (Ruth Brown\, Joe Turner\, The Clovers\, The Drifters\, The Coasters\, Ray Charles\, Ben E. King\, Solomon Burke\, Otis Redding\, Sam and Dave\, Percy Sledge\, Aretha Franklin\, Wilson Pickett\, Led Zeppelin). Ahmet\, on a date night with his lady\, motioned Lipbone to sit at his table. He offered his hand and confided “You play trombone with no trombone\, better than some trombone players that I know.” Lipbone took it as a blessing and hasn’t looked back since. \nIn 2007 Lipbone signed with Indie label\, Be-Pop Records\, founded by bass player and producer Jeff Eyrich (Natalie Cole\, Tanya Tucker\, T-Bone Burnett\, John Cale\, The Blasters\, The Plimsouls\, Dave’s True Story\, Cheech & Chong). 5 albums and a “Best Of” compilation have since been produced by Jeff and Be-Pop Records. It was also during this time that Lipbone teamed up with choreographer/dancer\, Bill T. Jones (Spring Awakening\, Fela!) to work on Chapel/Chapter. The live performance played to audiences worldwide and Lipbone\, along with the other collaborators\, won an OBIE award for Best Collaborative Performance. \nSince 2012\, in order to maintain a travel lifestyle 200 engagements per year\, Lipbone has returned to his roots and has sprouted new shoots. An uncanny vocal range\, a nylon string guitar\, a wooden spoon duct-taped to his foot and a lifetime of stories are all he needs to get the party started. \nLipbone Redding mostly tours as a solo act but collaborates regularly with other musicians and his trio\, The Lipbone Orchestra. He has shared the stage with many great artists including Marcia Ball\, John Mayall\, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band\, Tab Benoit\, Cyril Neville\, Jimmy Hall\, Jonathan Edwards\, Rita Wilson\, Shemekia Copeland\, Tommy Castro and others. \nLipbone has taken his singular vocal instrumental style to a new level by playing guitar and producing all of the instrument sounds while sim \nOpening musician\, Bruce Gallant has been writing songs for over 30 yrs. His songs are a reflection of different times in his life and he considers them his journal. Cecile accompanies him on mandolin. They have recorded one CD “Her and Me”\, and are presently working on another.

SUMMARY:Bill Mize in Concert. Opening Bill Burkert
DESCRIPTION:It’s not often the ACMA showcases an instrumentalist\, but when we do..watch out! We are proud to present Grammy award winner guitarist Bill Mize. \nBill Mize is a son of Tennessee\, and a fitting representative of his state’s rich musical heritage. His critically lauded fingerstyle compositions are fluid and intricate\, and their delivery masterful. One suspects an influential teacher\, and one would be right. “I received most of my musical education from a cheap Zenith radio\,” says Mize\, who as a child drifted off to sleep to the decidedly non-sleepy lullabyes emanating from Nashville’s WLAC and WSM and Knoxville’s WNOX. \nMaybe that’s why critics speak of his ability to “transport” the listener; the music itself has been transported. The links to his Tennessee roots are unmistakable\, but so are the elements of the far wider musical realm he inhabits\, and the mixture is as intoxicating as Tennessee moonshine. With a twist. \n*************************** \nBill is a past winner of the National Fingerstyle Guitar Competition at The Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield\, Kansas. Guitar Player Magazine has labeled this event the “U.S. Open of guitar competitions.” Bill received a GRAMMY Award for his collaboration with musician and storyteller David Holt on the recording Stellaluna\, and has been featured on the popular guitar compilations “Windham Hill Guitar Sampler” by Windham Hill Records and “Masters of the Acoustic Guitar” by Narada Records. In 2009\, Bill’s music appeared in the Ken Burns documentary “The National Parks: America’s Best Idea.” Mel Bay Productions transcribed Mize’s second CD\, “Tender Explorations\,” into a songbook\, and his original compositions have been transcribed for Fingerstyle Guitar and Acoustic Guitar magazines. \nDirty Linen Magazine (Stephen Ide) – “… To call Mize guitar maestro would be understating his ability to transport listeners beyond what most guitarists can only hope to accomplish.” \nFingerstyle Guitar News\, Canada – (Dave Walker\, 2010) “One of the best guitarists around.” \nDigital Dream Door – 100 Greatest Acoustic Guitar Albums of all Time\, #36 \nAll Music Guide ~ (Marc Castellani) “Gorgeous and compelling”.\nhttp://www.billmize.com \nOpen for Bill Mize\, is local songwriter Bill Burkert. Bill got his first guitar in 1963. After that the 60’s left him\, but he never really left the 60’s. In his early days he bounced around a bit -school\, army\, nowheresville\, etc.- somewhere along the line he picked up a ‘”Travis” style for guitar which he has been struggling with ever since. Eventually he landed in a resorts company in Ft\, Lauderdale\, retiring 12/31/16 and moving to Ft. Myers where he discovered ACMA and songwriters circle. As a songwriter and performer he is TOTALLY a product of ACMA!

SUMMARY:Harpeth Rising returns to the ACMA. Millie Van Horn opens. Friday!!
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE; THIS CONCERT IS ON A FRIDAY…NOT SATURDAY. FRIDAY NOVEMBER 17TH. 🙂 \nTickets for this show are $15.00 members $20.00 non members \nChamberfolk: Three classically trained musicians playing original music\, as intricately arranged as a string quartet\, lyrically rooted in the singer/songwriter tradition\, and wrapped in three-part vocal harmonies reminiscent of both Appalachia and Medieval Europe. Building from the tonal depth of the cello (or is it a bass?)\, layer in the shimmering sounds of a violin and the strikingly natural addition of banjo to create a sound at once familiar and impossibe to categorize. Unapologetic genre-benders\, Harpeth Rising fuses Folk\, Newgrass\, Rock and Classical into something organically unique.\nThe three musicians each hold classical performance degrees from some of the most venerated schools in the world: Indiana University\, Oberlin\, Eastman School of Music. But their classical background is only one dimension of this trio’s powerful musical voice. Hailing from vastly different parts of North America\, each member of Harpeth Rising brings different influences to the core sound. Born in Brooklyn\, NY\, Maria Di Meglio began the cello in 4th grade\, and developed her playing style studying both classical music and traditional songs of her families’ ancestry across Western Europe and the Caucasus. Michelle Younger of Charlottesville\, VA comes by her modern spin on old-time infused banjo authentically; her family has been in the United States for generations\, and she is a direct descendent of Cole Younger\, a member of the James-Younger Gang and the namesame of his very own banjo tune. Jordana Greenberg\, violin\, grew up listening to the sounds of Stan Rogers\, Leonard Cohen and Natalie McMaster in her native Canada before moving to Southern Indiana as a child. She studied classical violin by day through the pre-college program at Indiana University\, and spent her nights learning the folk tunes and classic rocks songs that her family plays at the annual post-Passover jam session.\nAll three women began singing after they completed their instrumental studies\, and found a passionate new musical avenue. They developed their voices and arrangements to bring life to the lyrical expressiveness of their original songs. Hallmarks of their music include expansive three-part harmonies\, consummate musicianship and a deft\, yet soulful\, lyrical perspective.\nTheir most recent album\, SHIFTED\, debuted at #1 on the Folk-DJ charts and was released to international acclaim. Tim Carroll of Folkwords wrote “Choose words to define this latest album – progressive\, creative\, innovative\, imaginative – they all describe what’s on offer…Alternatively\, don’t attempt to categorise their ingenuity with words\, take the shortest route\, immerse yourself in Harpeth Rising and let the music carry you with its flow.” Chris Spector at Midwest Record said “Taking Newgrass to the next dimension\, taking back lyric writing as an art form\, if you’ve cleaned your ears out recently\, this set is going to blow your mind. One of a kind\, in a class by itself and simply superlative throughout.” \nACMA’S own Millie Van Horn will open. Millie has her own special story to tell and she does it through song.

SUMMARY:HomeGrown\, Rick Hardeman\, Ross Jordan\, and Paul Phillips
DESCRIPTION:With many new faces and new voices the ACMA is growing week by week. So\, we’re put three new ACMA songwriters on the stage together. Rick open for NUMR11 in November\, Paul opened for Bill Bynum in June\, and Ross seems to be at every open mic in the area. Please joins us\, for our New Guy Homegrown Songwriters Round. An exciting night of original songs and the stories behind the songs. \n\nRick Hardeman\, after “lifetimes” lived on both sides of the country\, singer/songwriter Rick now brings his four decades of music and storytelling experience to audiences around the Gulf Coast of Florida. Built solidly on the 70’s-80’s acoustic folk/rock tradition\, Rick’s writing delivers what one writer called “intelligent and emotionally moving songs….songs that are ABOUT something…..songs that take you somewhere.” His intricate and subtle acoustic finger-picking style\, combined with his engaging lyrics\, sense of humor\, and mellow baritone voice make for a unique and entertaining musical experience. Rick’s second record (working title: “What Windows Do”) is scheduled for release in fall 2017.\n \nRoss Jordan has been playing and writing music for a long time. He studied Classical Guitar at Rutgers University and has played his original songs from New Jersey to San Francisco to South Dakota and now to South West Florida. His songs reflect influences from these varied regions. \nPaul Phillips trained musically\, American Songbook\, on a Hammond Organ\, but switched to guitar in a Vermont college\, where he was also introduced to Americana music\, and folk music.\nLiving on the South Shore of Boston\, he was a high school literature teacher and then President of the teachers union. He played guitar pretty much every night in his cellar studio\, and for friends at events and weddings; but not for the public. Retiring from union thuggery\, he moved to Florida\, where he found there are no cellars\, and so began playing above ground in his home studio\, at open mics\, and at song circles in the Port Charlotte\, Punta Gorda area; and joined ACMA at the suggestion of friends. He loves his five guitars\, two keyboards\, and getting friends to listen.

SUMMARY:David Massengil in concert. Joe Virga opens
DESCRIPTION:Storyteller\, songwriter and picture-book maker\, David Massengill “emigrated” from Tennessee to the Greenwich Village folk scene in 1976 with a dulcimer and a dream of bohemian nirvana. His songwriting style ranges from tragic mountain ballads to the lure of tender love songs and iconic political narratives. His songs have been recorded by Joan Baez\, David Bromberg\, Chad Mitchell\, The Roches\, Lucy Kaplansky\, Tom Russell\, Nanci Griffith and his mentor\, Dave Van Ronk\, who once said David “took the dull out of dulcimer.” Credits include six cds\, 11 bootlegs\, 15 books\, movie score\, school programs. In 2016 the Southern Folklife Collection at UNC-Chapel Hill offered to archive his works. He accepted and joins his friends and heroes Dave Van Ronk\, Bill Morrissey and Mike Seeger as a member. He once chased a bobcat and visa versa. \nDirty Linen Magazine ranks him with\, “Woody Guthrie\, Dylan\, and Paul Simon\,” while the New York Times calls him a\, “respected cult figure\,” whatever that may be.\nWhen I think of David Massengill\, I think in terms of pairs\, some complementary\, some contradictory….a gentle person but a powerful performer…equally skilled as a songwriter and storyteller…..songs full of narrative and allegory…his stories sing in a lyrical cadence and rhythm. A star of the sophisticated Greenwich Village folk scene\, he doesn’t try to disguise his roots in rural Tennessee. John Henderson\, Cornell Folk Club \nwww.davidmassengil.com \nJoe Virga’s musical roots spring from the Greenwich Village folk scene. After years making a living and performing music “on the side” retiremen has given Joe ample time to hone his craft. He has never left the folk scene and is active in all the festivals in SW Florida that he can attend\, as well as out of state conventions and meeting. AND Joe is a founding member of the ACMA! SUMMARY:Woji and Kozloff in concert. Bob Williams opens
DESCRIPTION:The ACMA is proud to welcome back Hank Woji and Eileen Kozloff to our stage. The duo has performed regularly at festivals\, concert venues\, coffee houses and house concerts throughout the country combining their stellar individual skills into a duo that showcases the best of their talents into a seamless collaborative musical team. \nAbout Hank Woji\nA self described “Jersey Shore Ex-Pat turned West Texas Desert Rat”\, for over 20 years\, as a bassist\, Hank Woji played in some of The Garden State’s most dynamic and innovative bands\, performing in clubs and concert halls from Virginia to Ontario\, in styles ranging from Blues and R&B to Reggae and Rock & Roll to County Rock and Afrobeat! \nIn the Spring of 2001 Hank moved to Houston\, TX\, fell in with a bunch of great Texas songwriters\, picked up his acoustic guitar\, and found a new musical voice as a Singer Songwriter. But destiny turned a page and it was his chance move\, in 2009\, to the far West Texas desert town of Terlingua that has most reshaped his life and his music. \nCritics have described Hank’s music as “acoustic-wielding\, sharply observed\, Americana all the way” and being “in the best tradition of the Texas troubadours like Guy Clarke\, Townes Van Zandt and Butch Hancock” and that “His troubadour style also comes very close to the style of Woody Guthrie or Pete Seeger\, or as we heard on ‘Nebraska’ from Bruce Springsteen.” \nHank has released five self produced CDs: Medallion 2005; American Dreams 2008; There Was A Time 2010; Holy Ghost Town 2013; and The Working Life 2014. He has also just produced\, Just Words\, the new CD by Florida based singer songwriter Eileen Kozloff\, in 2017 \nOver the last 35 years Woji\, and his bands\, have shared the stage with\, such diverse artists as: Jonathan Byrd\, David Massengill\, Amy Speace\, Ray Bonneville\, The Radiators\, Jimmy Cliff\, Hot Tuna\, Shake Russell\, Dana Cooper\, Darden Smith\, Sara Hickman\, Annie Gallup\, Annie Wenz\, Emma’s Revolution\, The Flying A’s\, David Rovics\, Greg Klyma\, Bonnie Whitmore\, Colin Gilmore\, Ronnie Elliott\, Spook Handy\, Rebekah Pulley\, Room Full of Blues\, Johnny Winter\, Clarence Clemons\, Garry Tallent\, John Hammond Jr.\, The Nighthawks\, Bob Livingston\, Grant Peeples\, Spook Handy\, Jeff Talmadge\, Butch Hancock\, Jimmie Dale Gilmore\, Kinky Friedman\, Bruce Springsteen\, David Amram and Pete Seeger. \nHank is a proud member of AFM Local 1000 and tours nationally\, performing regularly at festivals\, coffeehouses\, theaters\, clubs and house concerts as a solo singer songwriter\, with his duo partner Eileen Kozloff as Woji & Kozloff\, and with his full band The Hank Woji Conspiracy. \nwww.hankwoji.com \nAbout Eileen Kozloff:\nAn award winning artist\, for her singing\, songwriting and instrumental work\, Eileen Kozloff is a multi-instrumentalist who has been actively involved in the autoharp world for over a quarter of a century. She is best known for her unique “pick-less” style of diatonic autoharp and for her soaring vocals\, stunning harmonies and commanding performances. Her ability to compose\, play and sing in a wide range of genres has made her a versatile festival performer and workshop teacher. \nHer extensive repertoire is a rich mix of Old Time chestnuts\, Carter Family songs and her original compositions\, which stylistically run the gamut from country\, blues and folk to jazz and even rock and roll! The Old Time Herald calls her singing approach “emotive\, clear and controlled\, reminiscent of the best of the revivalists\, such as Joan Baez or Anne Hills”\, and her performances ‘heartfelt\, with ravishing\, wide ranging vocals.” \nEileen’s recordings have garnered stellar reviews and her discography includes two critically acclaimed CDs with her former band\, Well Tempered String Band\, as well as\, two solo projects; “Solitary Rider” and “Hearts and Souls Entwined”. She is currently at work on her 3rd solo CD which is scheduled for release in early 2017. \nwww.eileenkozloff.com \nACMA board member and vice president Bob Williams opens the show. Bob has been a songwriter and musician most of his life. He discovered the joy of performing his own music at open mics and from then on\, in his own words\, “he was set free”. After joining the ACMA he rapidly became further involved in supporting local musicians by organizing ACMA events such as Songwriters at Sunset at Lover’s key\, in conjunction with FOLKS\, Songwriters at the South Regional Library and involving the ACMA with the Island Hopper Festival He also landed a regular “gig” at a local watering hole. He’s found time to produce a CD of his orginal music and is working on a second. All the while he continues to enjoy life with his wife Shelley Sue and their dog Murphy.\nwww.reverbnation.com/bobwilliams2

SUMMARY:Danika Holmes and Jeb Stuart in concert Scott Lee Dozier opens
DESCRIPTION:Don’t let the optimistic take on life in Danika’s music fool you into thinking she’s never endured hardship. She has… and plenty of it. She just chose to focus the message of her music on overcoming challenges and getting through life’s hardest moments in one piece\, and being better for it. Danika believes music has the ability to heal. But that’s not all. A well written song and performance can lead you to sing along\, to laugh\, or to bop your head and groove with the beat. That’s what you can expect from a Danika Holmes show… not just songs\, but an experience to remember. \nIn 2010\, Danika joined forces with guitarist Jeb Hart\, a phenomenal player who’s not afraid of shredding on an acoustic guitar. Jeb’s clean and sophisticated style of playing along with Danika’s smooth\, soulful vocals has created their own unique blend of acoustic pop. Fans come to Danika shows expecting to hear Jeb Hart on guitar the same way they know they’re going to get Slash at a Guns N’ Roses concert. \nWhile the music is positive and encouraging\, an occasional song veers to the dark side\, addressing heartbreak and death\, in particular the loss of Danika’s dad to cancer\, while showing a very real and genuine side to the singer-songwriter. “Balance Vol. 1” (2014) is the Nashville duo’s most recent release and was generously fan funded through kickstarter\, as was their most recent full band release “Living Your Dream.” (2010) Danika grew up as one of five kids on the Mississippi River in a little piece of heaven known as “Iowa.” \nJeb Hart is the creator of Six Month Guitar. \nJeb started playing music at age 9\, starting with saxophone and then later adding guitar\, bass\, and drums. Throughout the years he has learned many more. In his college days he spent many hours in the studio writing and recording songs. \nJeb also filled in with hundreds of bands including blues\, rock\, metal\, country\, and even a 2 1/2 year stint with a big band. He has taught for 16 years\, and has decided to perform full time with Danika Holmes. Jeb stated\, “It’s taken a long time to find a band that was worth pulling away from teaching for. I’m excited to see where we go in the next few years.” \nACMA member Scott Lee Dozier opens the show! \n  \nwww.danikaholmes.com

SUMMARY:Grant Peeples in concert with ACMA members Peg and Emery Williams Opening
DESCRIPTION:Please join us as Grant celebrates 10 years of singer/songwrter thang! Our founding ACMA member Joe Virga opens.\nA self-described “tree-hugger that watches NASCAR\, and Buddhist with a gun below the seat\,” Grant Peeples is known for his axe-sharp socio-political tunes\, raucous humor and heart-gigging ballads. \nIn 2014 he was the recipient of the Focus Foundation Award for Creative Excellence\, which cited the “humor\, compassion and wisdom of his songs\,” as well as their “unflinching social insight and cultural acuity.” He was a 2016 Finalist in the prestigious New Folk Songwriters Showcase\, sponsored by Kerrville Folk Festival. \nThird Coast Magazine’s John Conquest says “Peeples is unusually literate\, unusually honest. And the only songwriter I have ever called ‘ruthless.’” \nGrant has made seven studio records. Including a trilogy produced by Gurf Morlix. SUMMARY:Bob Sima returns to the ACMA. Glenn Sabatka opens!
DESCRIPTION:Sima is a dynamic singer-songwriter\, performer\, storyteller\, speaker\, servant of humanity\, workshop and retreat leader\, meditation and breathwork facilitator\, and creative collaborator — often weaving all of these elements into a single performance. He is a nationally touring artist performing at festivals\, concert halls\, yoga studios\, wellness centers\, and spiritual centers to share his message and music. His soul-stirring performances straddle the worlds of folk\, kirtan\, soul\, and gospel as he navigates audiences deeply on a journey\, both individually and as a collective. Flowing with the unique energy at each event and rarely making a set-list\, he is a master at going from foot-stomp to pin-drop. He guides audiences into a space for things – epiphanies\, light bulbs coming on\, shifts – to happen. His performances invite a visceral embodiment of the music and message in a wide-open space of possibilities. \nBob is channeling some of the long forgotten troubadours. ~Musica Del Rio Concerts \nSima’s mission for his music: “I come with a crystal clear divine purpose. With utmost and sacred devotion\, I encapsulate – in song – my interpretations of the ancient\, timeless wisdom of the ascended masters and of the contemporary teachers I meet in this life. Each and every song I birth begins as my personal conversation with Source\, delivered as life lessons of spiritual growth\, transformation\, and expansion of consciousness. I share this gift to soften the hardest of hearts\, widen the narrowest of smiles\, loosen the tightest of grips\, lighten the heaviest of loads\, and thin the thickest of walls of as many souls as I can possibly reach. All for the greater purpose of lifting as much light and consciousness into this world at this time in human evolution when it is so called to be done.” \nACMA member Glenn Sabatka opens the show. Glenn brings a unique touch to his guitar/harmonica/humorous but touching songs that give us a glimpse into his being..

SUMMARY:Ellen Bukstel\, Bill Veach Opens
DESCRIPTION:From Menopause to Marijuana! …Peace to Politics! …Poignant to Provocative! …Ellen Bukstel writes and sings about it all! This type of happy-sad\, life embracing\, fear-overcoming emotional schizophrenia truly captures the spirit of modern independent music making—whatever the artist feels in that moment\, she shares…and whatever else Ellen is\, she’s not shy about it making her audience “sit up and think…laugh til they cry…and sometimes all at the same time!” \nA veteran to the stage since childhood\, she has been honored with close to 50 Songwriting and Music Video awards and acknowledgments since 2002 by such notable competitions such as John Lennon\, Paul Stookey’s Music To life\, New Zealand Int’l Peace Song\, Breaking the Silence in Song\, Kerrville NewFolk\, just to name a few. And\, her songs are making a huge difference in people’s lives. \nRenowned as an activist who puts her passions to song\, Ellen has been commissioned to write songs and produced numerous multiple award winning fundraising music videos which have collectively helped to raise almost one hundred million dollars since 2006 and are being used as tools to raise awareness of important social issues such as Housing the Homeless\, Assistance Victims of Domestic Violence\, Human Rights and care for Children with wide spectrum Autism and Elderly with Cerebral Deterioration. \nHer songwriting journey began after losing her husband Doug Segal to AIDS in 1988. Doug was a hemophiliac who contacted HIV from his blood products and died at age 36 leaving Ellen with their three children Brett\, Todd and Margo. Doug and Ellen spoke out publicly hundred of times sharing their personal story in schools\, churches\, synagogues\, educating the community about AIDS.They also spoke to the “Presidents Commission on AIDS” when they came to her home town city\, Miami\, FL. Ellen was honored as a Torch Runner for the 1996 Olympics for her service to the community. \nEllen expresses her imagination with her beautiful voice\, guitar and keyboard. Her award winning songs chronicle the joys and sorrows of a colorful tapestry still being woven…She conveys love and a depth of concern for the ever-increasing threats to our world and to our own individual rights. All this is related to the audience through a brave\, though humorous and earthy connection between the world of musical performance and that of the social “bard” or “troubadour” from which the most powerful and relevant strand of folk music derives it’s roots. It’s not an act. It’s real. \nEllen’s awards are too numerous to list but check out this impressive list at: http://ellenbukstel.com/awards-recognition/ \nACMA member Bill Veach opens the show!
