SUMMARY:Roy Bookbinder Cancelled
DESCRIPTION:Special pricing $15 ACMA members/$20 general public. \nRoy said “Let’s do it again” and so we are…and we are thrilled to welcome Roy Bookbinder back to the ACMA.\nRoy has the goods: the original\, the bare-knuckle\, the low-down . . . blues. Who can say they were friends with the Rev. Gary Davis\, Pink Anderson and Robert Lockwood? And toured with Arthur Big Boy Crudup\, Hot Tuna\, JJ Cale & Bonnie Raitt ? Roy can. He has the stories\, the licks\, and the mystery of timeless music in his fingers. He’s been featured on a PBS special and interviewed by Terry Gross on “Fresh Air.” He’s also a regular at Fur Peace Ranch\, where he teaches along with Jorma Kaukonen. When he brings his ‘Tour Bus’ to town\, a one-man blues-fest ensues. He plays and he entertains\, feeding us music and stories\, and the evening is a celebration for us all. We’re privileged to have Roy here to preserve–and extend—the tradition of great American blues music. (JAMES HIPP)\nwww.roybookbinder.com\nOpening for Roy is ACMA founding member Bill Metts: Bill Metts started playing guitar during the Country Blues revival of the 60s and fell in love with the art of finger-style guitar. He began his writing career after moving to South West Florida and regularly attending open mics in Fort Myers\, notably the (sadly) no longer operating “Nita’s Sweet Bean Café” where many local singer songwriters cut their teeth. Shortly after\, he was asked to served on the board of the nationally known Americana Community Music Association and hosted their weekly Songwriter Circle for four years. He has also\, for seven years through a not for profit organization called Hope by Song\, been composing songs from the writings of people dealing with great emotional trauma in order to help them heal through the power inherent in music. He has performed at the prestigious Mississippi John Hurt Blues Festival\, the world famous “Ground Zero” in Clarksdale Mississippi and twice at the Island Hopper Festival Songwriter Fest. He has also opened for such greats as award winners Doug MacCleod and Jon Shain\, and is scheduled to open for the legendary Roy Bookbinder.\nwww.mettsmusic.com

SUMMARY:Songwriters Estero Library.... Cancelled
DESCRIPTION:The Lee County Library has joined with The ACMA (Americana Community Music Association)\, to offer free Acoustic concerts of all original music. Concerts will take place inside at the South County Regional Library 21100 Three Oaks Parkway Estero 33928\, Saturday 2:00 Pm – 3:30 Pm \nThe ACMA is a Fort Myers based not for profit that promotes local artists who perform their own original songs. Come hear great original music and the stories behind the songs in an intimate Songwriters Showcase. Be prepared to enjoy an evening of professional quality acoustic Americana music. Americana music a coming together of blues\, roots\, folk and country. \nPete & Silva Popravak\, Pete Bensen \, Dan Philgreen \nSilvia and Pete is an acoustic musical duo that combines guitar\, mandolin\, Ukelele and harmonica to encompass a variety of musical genres including folk\, country\, Cuban/Latin\, bluegrass and original songs. Always experimenting\, adapting\, and progressing from their roots in rock and traditional music\, Silvia and Pete have created a style that is uniquely theirs\, while remaining faithful to the many sources of their music. \nPete Bensen\, Americana music and playing guitar has been his love\, muse\, and best friend since childhood.\, Peter has performed for over 15\,000 listeners of his regular StreetJelly.com/Pete Bensen. online e-concerts. This is Pete’s second year as ACMA host for these shows. \nDan Philgreen\nAfter failed attempts at violin and piano\, Dan Philgreen picked up the guitar in the 7th grade. Like many of his age he was very influenced by the many singer-songwriters that were at the height of their popularity during the 70’s when he was in high school\, as well as the folk-rock bands of that era\, such as Crosby\, Stills\, and Nash. He has played in church for much of his life but has also always had a love for folk music which never had much of an outlet before his moving to Fort Myers. The founding of the Americana Community Music Association opened a door of opportunity to develop and share his music in a community of folks who are also passionate about this genre. Though he dabbled in song-writing earlier in his life and had a few songs to his credit\, the inspiration of the ACMA’s songwriter’s circle spurred him to write many more songs over the past few years. His playing has also developed to a higher point in the last decade and he says that\, with age\, his voice is finally starting to cooperate as well. Dan’s songs are based on his observations of life and the beauty he sees in the world. They deal with the challenges of life honestly\, but always attempt to leave the listener with hope.

SUMMARY:Jennnings and Keller..... Cancelled
DESCRIPTION:Jennings & Keller is an award-winning nationally touring duo based out of Florida. They offer up 21st Century Americana with influences in folk\, jazz\, and roots music. They fuse many different musical elements into a unique eclectic style that is refreshingly diverse. \nDana Keller\, a veteran pedal steel\, dobro\, and guitar player\, has spent years performing on stage or in the studio with such luminaries as Vince Gill\, Ricky Skaggs\, Stevie Wonder\, Larry Graham\, Marvin Gaye\, Dave Mason\, Johnny Rodriguez and The Allen Brothers\, to name a few. Dana has been an endorsee of the Gretsch Guitar and Drum Company since 1980. His dobro playing has been called “jaw-droppingly good”. Along with being lauded for his world-class musicianship\, he is known as a “songwriter’s songwriter”\, often drawing comparisons to Gene Clark and Jessie Winchester. \nLaurie Jennings Oudin is a former Shakespearean actress who has spent many years on the stage. Her theater background combined with a lifetime of professional singing gives her an obvious command of the stage as well as the songs she sings. With a vocal style that ranges from early Joni Mitchell to Emmylou Harris\, Laurie leaves audiences mesmerized by her stunning vocal delivery. \nIn the 11 years of playing together\, Jennings & Keller have released 4 CDs. They have received accolades and airplay from radio stations at one end of the country to the other. In true troubadour spirit\, Laurie and Dana travel the country in their motor home\, performing at festivals\, cafes\, wineries and house concerts. Along with developing a large and loyal fan base\, they have earned a reputation for quality musicianship and expert storytelling. \n“We’ve had perhaps a dozen home concerts now and attended a half dozen more. Laurie Jennings has a beautiful\, polished voice. She and Dana perform original folk and western numbers which are gripping and delightful. Probably the best voice we’ve had the opportunity to enjoy. Dana plays a variety of guitars with beautiful style and tone. They’re a GREAT combination and will be long\, long remembered by our audience”-M. Eisenburg\, Comstock House Concerts\, CA – Aug. 2015\nwww.jenningsandkeller.com \nACMA member Amber Crowley will open\,\nAmber Crowley \nOpposites attract like the negative and positive poles of a magnet. Amber Crowley’s professional life brings together the science of ER medicine and art of acoustic music. Life and death decisions face Amber Crowley every day in the ER. She runs codes responding to the sirens and machine alarms\, in a broken\, overburdened medical system. From this chaos emerges a soulful voice that brings soothing peace and smiles to both the listener and the performer herself. Amber is a Physician musician with Cape Cod and Naples Florida roots\, her original songs often reflect the beauty and her love of the natural environment. Her original songs are both skillfully crafted and emotional and her performances energetic and passionate. In contrast to the automated machine filled ER\, her music is filled with human spirit and emotion.\nAmber started playing guitar and singing in a high school folk group\, and has performed professionally for over 40 years with multiple CDs and EPs. Most recently she performed at Naples Botanical Gardens and Charter Club Resort. She also has shared her music for many years for Hope Hospice\, American Cancer Society and other nonprofit events. Her most requested originals are “License to Sing the Blues”\, and “Snowbird”. Several recent songs reflect her love for the environment “Save our Oceans” and “Spirit of the Mangroves”

His songs are often autobiographical\, about his experiences\, travel\, love\, loss and some characters he has met on his journey.
