SUMMARY:Reckless Saints in Concert! The Bernardis Open
DESCRIPTION:“Their ‘Blue-Twangled Folk n Roll’ sound rides like a V8\, firing on all cylinders…!”~ Gurf Morlix \nAn ACMA favorite kicks off the New Year….The Reckless Saints! Roy Schneider and Kim Mayfield are the core duo and songwriters of Reckless Saints. Partners in music and love since 2003\, they began recording and touring five years later. “Blue Twangled Folk ‘n’ Roll’ is the answer Roy provided to the question “What kind of music do you play?” The Fort Myers based duo decided to use his answer as the album title for their new release\, while also adopting the title of their 2018 release ‘Reckless Saints’ as their new band moniker. \nKim & Roy met online in 2003\, when it was still awkward to admit to such in public. On their first date\, Roy had Kim playing a few chords on the mandolin and their musical collaboration began. Roy was making a living performing in local venues at the time\, but was reluctant to share his original songs as he felt no one was really listening. Kim suggested they book a summer tour\, playing any venue that would have them\, so they could focus on playing their own songs for a listening audience. Roy agreed\, and the duo spent 6 weeks on the road pulling a tiny camper. The inaugural tour gave them confidence to continue seeking a bigger listening audience and led to higher profile bookings and two European tours. The duo spent over a decade touring and recording 5 CDs of original music under their solo names before officially adopting Reckless Saints as their band name. \nReckless Saints founder Roy Schneider was 16 and in hiding when he began making music in earnest. He had just escaped a yearlong incarceration at a controversial facility for troubled teens called Straight\, Inc. where\, among many other things\, he had been denied the right to play his guitar\, listen to or even talk about music. \nKim Mayfield grew up in a house filled with music. By age 9 she began piano lessons\, learning the basics of technique and reading music; mistakenly believing that reading sheet music was the only way to play piano. \nReckless Saints newest release\, “Blue Twangled Folk ‘n’ Roll’ features notables such as David Gans\, Freebo\, Charlie McCoy\, and David C. Johnson. \nMore cool stuff here:\nrecklesssaints.com \nOpening for Reckless Saints is ACMA Members The Bernardi’s \nThe BERNARDIS started out as a couple over 50 years ago. Many years after moving to Southwest Florida\, they got the notion to try out some open MICs\, and found out he could play\, and she could sing\, and that it was fun. And so\, the adventure began.\nFlorida offered them many other opportunities\, including the Guitar Army in Punta Gorda\, the Barberville Folk Festivals in Pierson\,   and The Farm stage in Brooksville.  It is here they found their music family.\nNick and Kathy embrace the songs they find and perform them with original flair. They offer an eclectic blend of Americana and contemporary music. Some of them are obscure songs written by well-known artists.  They are happy to have you sing along with those that are well known. \nDoor Donations:\nMembers/$15\nGeneral Admission/$20 \nTickets available at the door. \nDoors open at 6:30 pm and concert begins at 7:00 pm

SUMMARY:ACMA @ The Planetarium\, Grace Morrison and Marc Douglas Berardo in Concert. D'hruva opens
DESCRIPTION:The ACMA and the Calusa Nature Center have partnered to present Music Under The Stars INSIDE the Planetarium. Our second concert of the series is headlined by Grace Morrison and Marc Douglas Berardo. ACMA member musician D’hruva Stephenson opens.\nGrace Morrison: gracemorrison.com \n“Her voice smacks of Jewel\, and her style\, cadence\, song structure is every inch from the school of Joan Osborne\, Lisa Loeb\, Natalie Merchant — Lauren Daley/Boston Globe \n“She is folk. She is pop. She’s unbelievably masterful behind the wheel of a guitar. Morrison’s vocal storytelling can make you cry; it can make you sing.” — Emily Clark Old Colony Memorial \nBorn and raised on the shores of Cape Cod\, Grace’s unique brand of “saltwater country” has established her as a confident\, refreshing voice in country-pop. With performances at Nashville’s Bluebird Café and co-writes with multi-Grammy winner Lori McKenna (Humble and Kind) and hit songwriter Barbara Cloyd (I Guess You Had to be There) under her belt\, Grace made a name for herself in 2022 at songwriter festivals from Massachusetts to Montana. During this stretch she gained further recognition and invitations to write with Dana Hunt Black (Check Yes or No)\, and Steve Dean (Round About Way). \nOutwardly effortless and radio-ready you might take for granted what makes Grace’s songwriting special. With musical influences ranging from Fats Domino’s rock and roll licks; the raw expression of jazz; Celtic ballads; and 90’s pop choruses – Grace delivers “three chords and the truth” in a package that is familiar and yet undeniably unique. \nGrace Morrison is a mother\, musician\, renaissance faire performer\, cranberry farmer\, songwriter\, and storyteller. With subjects ranging from Titanic to tantric; an “evening with” Grace will take you from the court of King Henry VIII to debauchery in Denver. With humor and raw honesty\, audiences leave Grace’s shows with her songs stuck in their heads and their toes tired from tapping. Marc Douglas Berardo: Marcdouglas.com \n“Berardo takes you to a place within yourself to make changes you want to see in the world.” — Mary Jane Twohy\, The Village\, Sirius/XM Radio \n“High-quality story-telling\, picking\, and playing.” — Rob Ellen\, The Medicine Show Radio Moose Mobile\, U.K. \nSinger-songwriter\, performer\, and keen observer\, Marc Douglas Berardo’s songs are sharply drawn and cast a net on unusual and beguiling characters and places that bring to mind James Taylor\, Jimmy Buffett\, Guy Clark\, and Steely Dan with a touch of Mark Twain or Hunter S. Thompson. His songs have been recognized at prestigious national festivals and events such as The South Florida Folk Festival\, The Wildflower Arts and Music Festival\, and the Kerrville Folk Festival. \nHe has opened for or shared the stage with The Doobie Brothers\, Little Feat\, John Hiatt\, Martin Sexton\, Eric Taylor\, Kevin Welch\, Kim Richey\, Will Kimbrough\, Ari Hest\, Red Molly and David Olney. Berardo’s interview and live performance featured on the Sirius/ XM Satellite Radio show The Village was voted one of the best of the year by listeners. No Depression Magazine called his last CD Whalebone: “sincere\, fluid\, charming and above all gripping.” \nOpening the concert is Dhruva’ Stephenson. In her own words…”Singer-songwriter\, jammer\, traveler. Loves singing harmonies and flirting around with flute\, mandolin\, bass\, percussion\, piano and other lesser-known instruments”. She is an ACMA member from the Mid-Atlantic region. Her music reflects a variety of folksy and bluesy genres highlighted by her distinctive contralto voice. Dhruva’ has released several albums of original music. \nTicket link. www.calusanature.org

SUMMARY:ACMA presents Shanna In A Dress. The Lost Lakers open
DESCRIPTION:Shanna in a Dress is your quirky best friend who refuses to wear pants. She says what everyone is thinking but no one else will say and you’ll get an uncensored journey of clever humor and heartbreak with a hefty side of entertainment at her shows. This witty wordsmith is known for making audiences laugh and cry\, sometimes in the same song. Think Jason Mraz mixed with Ingrid Michaelson with a twist of Phoebe Buffay from Friends all wrapped up in a sweet voice accented by guitar\, piano\, and ukulele.\nShanna describes her music as “quirky folk pop from a clever millennial who sucks at dating.” Shanna started her career at the University of Virginia\, biked across the country and fell in love with Colorado where she resided for eight years\, and now keeps her fun music flowing out of Nashville unless she is touring the US or Europe. You can’t get the same Shanna in a Dress show twice with her spontaneous banter and playful stage presence. She manages to teeter the line masterfully of taking on complex subject matter with smart yet accessible lyrics. Her songs are laden with clever wordplay and delight audiences of all ages.\nIn 2020 alone\, Shanna was a winner in the Kerrville New Folk Competition\, won the Great River Folk Fest Song Competition\, was named a semi-finalist in Songwriter Serenade and a Grassy Hill emerging Artist at the falcon Ridge Folk Festival. Her debut record’s wildly successful crowdfunding campaign reached 50% of its goal the day it was launched before ending up at 200% of the original goal. The album titled “Robot” was released in May 2022. Shanna’s most recent adventure was the cross-country bike tour “Shanna in a Dress on a Bike” where she totaled 61 shows in 20 states (not to mention 2000+ miles of biking). www.shannainadress.com\nVideos:\nA Face Like Yours: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FK-4BzH9GP8\nOpening for Shanna are ACMA member musicians The Lost LakersThe fabulous Lost Lakers open this show. Tim Foote was raised in Memphis\, Tennessee\, and Karen Foote here in Fort Myers. When they met in Arkansas\, there were two guitars being passed around. Everyone in the room\, including Tim and Karen\, were surprised by how easily their harmonies flowed together. They chose the less-traveled path to Alaska and spent the last 40 years raising their 3 children in Fairbanks\, where Tim practiced medicine and Karen was a wood-fired ceramic artist. They have written songs about whatever was in front of them\, whether it be the challenges of raising children\, the loss of loved ones\, the humorous or the awkward\, hurricanes and (of course) lullabies for the grand babies. But most often\, they sing about their love for each other.\nDoor donations: $15General public $20

SUMMARY:ACMA presents House of Hamill @ The Alliance for the Arts. Bob Williams opens
DESCRIPTION:We’re so happy to once again be partnering with the awesome Alliance For The Arts to present live music in The Fould’s Theater\nPlease join us when The House of Hamill makes it ‘s ACMA debut…..a concert that has taken six years to make. happen!   Note: Doors open at 2:30. Show at 3:00\nHouse of Hamill owes its existence – almost entirely – to a series of cancelled flights.Rose Baldino and Brian Buchanan first found themselves onstage together at the 2014 Folk Alliance International conference in Kansas City.Rose’s band Burning Bridget Cleary was scheduled to perform\, but inclement weather prevented two of her bandmates from flying. Desperate to salvage the showcase\, Rose approached Brian\, who she knew fronted Canadian celtic rock band Enter the Haggis. She thrust a guitar into Brian’s hands\, pulled him onstage\, and the two just clicked.Four years and hundreds of shows later\, the duo was booked to play a closing slot at a Colorado festival\, so they hired a bass player and drummer to fill out their sound. By the oddest of coincidences\, their hired bandmates’ flights were canceled the day of the show. A frantic Facebook post introduced Brian and Rose to local musician Caroline Browning\, who joined them on bass for the weekend. Once again\, the chemistry was undeniable\, and House of Hamill became a trio.Today\, Pennsylvania-based House of Hamill is a fixture on festival stages across the US\, and have shared their music and stories on the country’s premier folk stages. Their version of “Pound a Week Rise” rose to #1 on the US Folk DJ charts\, and the video for their all-violin cover of “Sweet Child O’ Mine” amassed over 16 million views on Facebook\, where it was shared over 400\,000 times. The band’s upcoming release\, “Wildfire\,” marks House of Hamill’s most compelling work to date. Featuring their strongest and most exciting songwriting\, “Wildfire” is filled with lyrical depth\, sophisticated vocal and instrumental arrangements\, and hooks that are simply irresistible. This album captures the vibrant energy and creativity that have become the hallmarks of a House of Hamill live show.Whether they’re ripping through a set of original jigs and reels\, adding lush three-part harmonies into traditional folk ballads\, or cracking up an audience with stories from the road\, House of Hamill puts on a show that captivates audiences from the very first note.\nDoors open at 2:30. Show at 3:00ACMA/Alliance members\, $18/Public $20www.artinlee.org for tickets. or Pay at the door….\n\n“Absolutely electrifying… mesmerizing melodies that redefine what’s traditional\, with personality and verve.” – Paul MacArthur— CelticRadio.net\nUpcycled Celtic Folk!\nWhether they’re ripping through a set of original jigs and reels\, adding lush three-part harmonies into traditional folk ballads\, or cracking up an audience with stories from the road\, House of Hamill puts on a show that captivates audiences from the very first note.\nwww.houseofhamill.com\n\nBob Williams kicks off the show\, joined by special guest Jack Ewald on fiddle. Over a decade ago\, Jack supported Bob at his first performance at the ACMA\, and since then\, both have played countless shows—solo and with different bands. They’re thrilled to reunite on stage for this very special performance. \nIn the late sixties\, Bob Williams\, a young guitarist from Long Island\, NY\, began writing his own music as soon as he mastered three chords. Drawing inspiration from Folk-Rock and Country-Rock\, Bob crafted a unique sound influenced by the folk singers of the 60s and the singer-songwriters of the 70s. His writing evolved into what is now known as Americana Music\, a blend of Roots\, Folk\, Country\, Bluegrass\, Blues\, and everything in between.   Over the past decade\, Bob has performed numerous concerts\, opened for national touring artists\, and regularly played with The Pearl Street Band. His songs have also been recorded and released by other artists. Known for sharing the amusing stories behind his lyrics\, Bob’s songs are personal\, irreverent\, funny\, sad\, and always heartfelt. His performances have been described as a mix of Neil Young and Crazy Horse with solo acoustic Bruce Springsteen. While that may be a stretch\, Bob’s passion is evident in his music..  www.reverbnation.com/bobwilliams2
