CNCP and ACMA are proud to announce another singer songwriter series part of Music Under the Stars.
He’s from Berkeley CA, she’s from Woodstock NY. With their roots in places so rich in social activism and history, it was inevitable that these two would meet while studying materials engineering and geology. Eventually they got around to music and for two decades Friction Farm has traveled the world singing songs filled with story telling, social commentary and humor. Aidan Quinn and Christine Stay, believe in the uplifting power of song, the power of the people, and the miraculous wonder of everyday life.
They have toured across the US and internationally, been Kerrville New Folk Finalists, Falcon Ridge Emerging Artists, and South Florida Folk Festival Songwriter winners. In addition to folk music venues, Friction Farm regularly perform for kids as part of a program promoting children’s literacy . They are sought after presenters and performers at Climate Justice and Sustainable Living gatherings.
When not touring Aidan enjoys woodworking and painting, Christine bakes. They have a big garden and a small orchard and are designing and building a sustainable home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina
Opening for Friction Farm are ACMA member musicians Mary Dahl and Carolyn Stanley. Mary Dahl performed for 20 years as a member of “The Lite Side” quartet in the PA, MD and DC areas. They performed six times at the White House for 3 different presidential administrations , and entertained for Christmas specials at Hershey Park Chocolate World in Hershey, PA she also opened for the original Kingston Trio at the Carlisle Theatre in Carlisle, Pennsylvania Theatre in 1996. As a member of the ACMA she continues to write songs and share her “Music Therapy”.
Carolyn Stanley began playing guitar as a teenager learning to finger pick country blues from her older brother. Since then she has performed solo, joined several duos, and now performs in the Mystic Trio with her husband David and Mary Dahl.
Carolyn and Mary have forged a harmonious duo and strong friendship since joining the Americana Community Music Association.
